WOYWW 737: Short and to the point

It's Wednesday, which means it's time to join my dear friend and head desker Julia at Stamping Ground for the latest edition of What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, or as most know, WOYWW for short.

Several weeks ago, I removed about half the pages from an old book I had planned to use as an altered book.  Turns out, I was not fond of the book for creating art or for painting.  The pages just didn't feel right.  Instead, I decided to use it as a tip-in book for my second annual Art Journal Advent I participated in last December.  Year One was created in this gorgeous bird inspired book handmade for me by my dear friend Valerie.

Each art journal advent has 24 pages, plus the front and back covers I created the second year.  Note Wendy trying to photo bomb in the background.

Note the rocking horse (I know it's what you really came to see).  I picked mine up in a second hand store (or charity shop as they are called across the pond).

As promised, I am keeping this short this week.  I hope to see what each of you has on your desk, floor, or even in your garden this week.  Please join me at Julia's, where you will meet the kindest, most generous bloggers in the world.

BTW, if you are sharing ICADs, I post mine on Monday.  Here are my latest.  These are the ones I created last week, and these are from Days 20 to 32.

ell, I love the look of your book (Im trying to get into doing this sort of stuff, but am finding it hard, not to tidy it up...which is odd, because I'm such a messer! And, of course I love the rocking horse!

You've reminded me that I have a book somewhere that I started altering and I might have added a couple of pages and then stopped, it happens. Loving the rocking horse, it's surprising what you can find in Charity shops but then I'm one of those that gives them the stuff Lol! Wishing you a happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x

Super ICADs I had a look at them all. Particularly liked seeing all the American stamps, the Joyful Blooms and the abstract cards. Still trying to get my head around what you mean by tip-in book. Obviously I know what a tip-in is, so do you mean just sticking other stuff in it as if it were a plain journal? I delved under my desk for the few books I have saved for potentially doing another altered book and removed a few pages for my weeks Fodder Challenge it is amazing the different quality of the papers and how they react to paint. The best one is an old book about hospitals but then I find I need to cover certain words as they just aren't appropriate LOL. Hugs BJ#16

It’s a beautiful book and a lovely rocking horse. I struggled to see Wendy but maybe saw a cat’s paw under the back rocker?
Take care and happy WOYWW

Love that little horse, he would for sure be a flower or pot bearer for me. More likely a pile of books actually, indoor plants aren't really a thing in this house! The book gifted by Valerie is lovely, what a treat. Isn't it strange how things can differ so vastly and we get a feel for papers and such that we will be able to work on successfully or not. I like your instincts! And also, blimey, you're preparing in very good time...would that I could drive myself...,

what a gorgeous book Valerie made for you, I love the cover with the birds and diamond shapes.
As for the Rocking Horse, yes, I prefer the way the legs are on yours, the other is quite plain.
See you tomorrow

Good that you were able to use the book for something else when it didn't suit your altered project. I like the legs on your rocking horse, too. Hi Wendy!

Dear Elizabeth,
the book with the birds looks beautiful and the rocking horse is cute. It looks a bit like the rocking horse my grandson rides. (I plan to show it soon. If I forget, please remind me!)
Thank you for your lovely compliments on my T-Day participation! 😊
All the best from Austria, Traude

I forgot for a minute who Wendy was (since I don't participate in this desk challenge) and I was looking for an actual face. Then I remembered. Smile. Can I ask how many rocking horses you actually have? I know it's a lot. Hope you're having a good day. hugs-Erika

That’s great that you could put the book to a different use to the one you’d envisaged! When I volunteered in a charity book shop there were always people coming in for old books and sheet music to use for crafting, better to have a reuse than be sent for pulping!

Wonderful horse. I really love how you collect them. Sorry about the book but as clever an artist as you are you created anyway. Have a very nice day.
