No Rocking Horses today

Today is the beginning of a new month, which means we introduce a new host at Art Journal Journey (AJJ).  Before I do that, however, I want to thank Mia for all the fantastic art she has given us this month.  And we can't forget the lovely AI generated images she gave us for our personal use.

Our new host is no stranger to AJJ.  This will be her eighth year hosting.  Please welcome Wendy K, whose blog is Wendys Craft Journal. Her theme this month is Colors of Autumn.  This is my first entry and how I interpreted the theme.

There are no step out images today.  I began by adhering orange tissue to 5.5 X 8 inch (13.97 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb cardstock.  I then added the green burlap for texture.  Next came the pale yellow cotton fabric I tried to dye with brown, but it didn't take well.  Finally, I added deep red silk that I also dyed.  To give the page some added effect, I included three brown fancy fibers to the page.  These are the colors I associate with autumn.  There wasn't room to add a sentiment.  Sometimes the art must speak for itself.

Please remember we welcome art journal pages that meet the theme requirements, altered book pages, canvases, loose, or stand alone pages including fabric and digital art.  I (and the administrators) do not leave comments on Facebook, TicTok, or Instagram entries.  We do not allow cards!!!  Period! We also don't allow tags, index cards, ATCs, or ATCoins, unless they are part of a journal page, and as much as we don't want to, will be forced to delete your entry.  Please remember if your blog is not in English, we ask that you translate it for us since the translation tool doesn't work on some blogs.  Finally, we do not allow back-links to any journal page published prior to the start date of this month's challenge. Hope to see you and your interpretation of Colors of Autumn inspired art soon at Art Journal Journey.

We will also be joining  Nicole for Sunday in the Art Room or SITAR.

If it's Sunday, it's Rocking Horses

I count lots of hearts and 11 rocking horses in the photo below.  Bleubeard and I are also joining Nicole for Sunday in the Art Room or SITAR, and Gillena for the very last Sunday Smiles.

You may also notice this has become a haven for several of my completed altered books (AB).

We'll start here on the plant stand.  This is what it looked like before I removed the Halloween AB.  When I tried to put it back, I couldn't get the candle warmer to fit on the tray.

All I could do was take photos of what might have been and once was.  I love having this warmer in this room because it has hearts on it.

I have three of these glass rocking horses that hold candles, but they are all different sizes.

I love this terra cotta rocking horse, but it doesn't show up well in this photo.

This is a much better look at this rocker that holds a secret.

It's hard to see, but to the right of my watermark is a plug.  Remove the plug and fill the horse with essential oil.  The scent will waft into the room, especially if it is near a warm window above a heat vent.

This is one of my tiniest rocking horses.

I don't remember where I got it.

I've got several rocking horses that look like the wooden one on the right, but they are all different colors.

I also have several ceramic horses, but again,

they are either different sizes or different colors.

I received this beauty from Mia last Christmas.

I originally had it on my dresser, but I kept knocking it over, so I had to find a different place for it.

This metal rolling horse

comes complete with its own dinosaur.

This wooden rocking horse

sits in front of a candle and holder that has bent due to the heat of the sun.

My final rocking horse is small, metal, and quite uniquely shaped.

One more look now you have seen them all on this side of the room.

If it's Sunday, it's Rocking Horses

I spent the day and evening celebrating a birthday party with a loved one.  Photos will come soon, I hope.  I realized I hadn't created a rocking horse post for Sunday.  Here it is nearly midnight and I'm scrambling.  I count lots of hearts and 11 rocking horses in the photo below.

Bleubeard and I are also joining Nicole for Sunday in the Art Room or SITAR, and Gillena for Sunday Smiles.

Unfortunately, I only have time to share one rocking horse today.

Using Photoshop, I darkened this photo.  I'll show more the rest of these next week.  At least I didn't lose any getting them off my camera.

This darling ceramic rocking horse sits at the base of a plant stand that now holds altered books and rocking horses.

If it's Sunday, it's Rocking Horses.

It's time to share a few more rocking horses.  Today Bleubeard and I are also joining Nicole for Sunday in the Art Room or SITAR, and Gillena for Sunday Smiles.  Bleubeard and I are sharing these rocking horses out of necessity.

Even though it is in the high 80s F (31ish C) today, it won't be long until it will be time to bring my herbs inside.

This is the location where many of the herbs will live through the winter, so the books and rocking horses must find another area in which to live until spring arrives next year.

There are three wooden rockers, each different, and a ceramic composite rocker.

It never ceases to amaze me that there are no two alike.  Some may be similar, but not exactly the same

  and the three tiny buttons.

But I digress.  Please enjoy the photos I took of these before they go elsewhere for winter.

If it's Sunday, it's Rocking Horses

It's time to share a very unusual and beloved rocking horse.  Today Bleubeard and I are also joining Nicole for Sunday in the Art Room or SITAR, and Gillena for Sunday Smiles.

Today I only have one rocking horse, but it is both beautiful and functional.

It holds one of my rings I can't wear due to my lupus which makes my body break out around any ring, watch, or anything metal.  Before you ladies ask, I can't wear bras with metal fasteners.

It's even more functional than being a ring holder.

Do you see what the rocker is hiding?

Even PhotoShop couldn't lighten this enough for you to see it clearly.

Finally.  After over 30 photos, I got one that actually shows the functional part that's normally hidden.  Yes, it's a pencil sharpener.  It was a gift one year for Christmas.

A lousy close up of the face.  The background was in focus, the foreground wasn't.

I had a bit better luck with the tail.

I tried to show the copper patina, which doesn't show in the other photos.  Too bad even PhotoShop was unable to color correct with much luck.  At least, I hope you had a smile or two when you saw this one-of-a-kind rocking horse.
