Falling Leaves

 

Because it's Friday, I'm joining Nicole for Friday Face-Off and Gillena for Art For Fun Friday.  I'm also at Art Journal Journey where I'm joining Sharon from That Girl Fritchey. Sharon's theme is Hello Autumn. This may be my final AJJ entry for September. 

It's obvious I named this Falling Leaves.  Details are below.

 

 

I've often said I can't draw.  However, I attempted to draw and color falling leaves.  I was inspired by the leaves falling in my back yard as I watered my herbs.  

 

I was impressed by the different colors of the leaves and I tried to reproduce those on my 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb white cardstock using watercolor pencils.  I used nine watercolor pencils to color the leaves and two to color the stems.  When all the leaves were dry, I added the computer generated text.

I began by adhering a napkin from my stash to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb white cardstock using a glue stick. It was far easier to write these words than it was to get the napkin adhered without a lot of wrinkles.  When it was as smooth as I could possibly get it, I added the computer generated text.

The visit

Because it's Friday, I'm joining Nicole for Friday Face-Off and Gillena for Art For Fun Friday. 

Friends were in town over the Labor Day weekend.  I was thrilled they stopped by.  We spent about three hours catching up.  It was as they were leaving I thought to take photos of their visit.

 

I didn't realize how cluttered my house (walls) looked until I saw these photos.

Signs of Summer

 

Today Bleubeard and I are at Art Journal Journey, where we're joining our friend Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal.  Erika's theme at AJJ is In the good old summertime.  This will be our penultimate AJJ post for August. 

And because tomorrow will be Friday, we're also joining Nicole for Friday Face-Off and Gillena for Art For Fun Friday.  

There are several signs of summer and several faces on this journal page.  Details are below.

 

 

I began by creating one of my favorite backgrounds where I combined a blue Staz-on reinker and a brown Staz-on reinker with 91% isopropyl alcohol.  I deconstructed a gifted napkin from my stash.  I then adhered each piece that was shaped like a postage stamp.  Everything went well until I got to "Tropical Life." It slipped and the glue stick was so strong, I was unable to move it without fear of tearing the napkin.  Also, some of the edges flipped backward.  Everything was perfect until I added the glue stick.

First Place

 

Today you will find me at Art Journal Journey, where I'm joining my friend Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal.  Erika's theme at AJJ is In the good old summertime.  And because it's Friday, I'm also joining Nicole for Friday Face-Off and Gillena for Art For Fun Friday. 

There appear to be many childhood memories, including a First Place ribbon and a silver cup for winning a golf tournament.  Other summertime memories are detailed below. 

 

I began by adhering a napkin from my stash to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb cardstock using a glue stick.  I then fussy cut the baseball and adhered it to the page, also using a glue stick.  Next, I added the computer generated words.  Hopefully the person in the framed photo has enough of a face to qualify for FFO.  The memories also included fishing, baseball, a toy airplane, and checkers.

Bathing Beauties At The Beach

 

Yesterday we hit a record high for Wichita, Kansas (USA).  It was 108 F (42.22 C) with a "feels like" 113 F (45 C).  I suspect even my heat loving friends will find it unbearable.

I began by creating one of my favorite backgrounds where I combined a blue Staz-on reinker with 91% isopropyl alcohol.  However, when I auditioned the layout, I felt it was lacking.  I decided to adhere a napkin from my stash to the 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb background using a glue stick.  I then added the image I found in my stash.  Next, I added the computer generated title using a glue stick.  Finally, I adhered the two gold sea shells I found, along with other stickers, on a basement shelf I cleaned last week.

She Sells Seashells

Obviously, this is entitled She Sells Seashells By The Seashore.  Details are below.

 

  The tongue twister "She sells seashells by the seashore" became widely known in the 19th century and was later turned into a popular 1908 song by Terry Sullivan.  It is a well-known tongue twister that gained popularity in the 19th century and is often recited for fun and used to improve pronunciation skills.  It is also used in educational settings to help children with phonics and pronunciation.  The phrase continues to be a popular and entertaining linguistic challenge for people of all ages.  The complete tongue twister is below:

She sells seashells by the seashore,

The shells she sells are seashells, I’m sure.

So if she sells seashells on the seashore,

Then I’m sure she sells seashore shells. 

 

I began by adhering a napkin from my stash to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb cardstock using a glue stick.  I then added the little girl that I found at The Graphics Fairy.  Next, I added the computer generated tongue twister using a glue stick.  Finally, I adhered the star button from my stash using E6000.
