Autumn's colors

 

I had planned to show the rest of my herbs for Friday, but I have been bringing them inside all day so they won't freeze overnight.  I'm both literally and figuratively worn out.

Instead, today I'm joining my friend Mia of Craftartista.  Mia has chosen Beautiful World as her theme for October at Art Journal Journey.  Below is my next interpretation of her theme. 

It's obvious I named this Autumn's colors.  Details are below.

 

I began by adding various spray and shimmering mists to the 8.5 X 11 inch (21.59 X 27.94 cm) 110 lb cardstock.  I used colors that reflected autumn.  I included yellow, orange, pink, red, turquoise, and green.  I added the computer generated text I outlined in red and orange Posca pens.  Finally, I added the TH paper doll.

My Big Beautiful World

  

I want to begin by thanking Sharon from That Girl Fritchey who did a marvelous job hosting in September.  Her art was fantastic and her comments were heartfelt.  We look forward to Sharon joining us again next year.

Today we welcome a new host, as we do the 1st of every month.  This month's host is no stranger.  She is one of the co-administrators at AJJ.  Yes, it's my friend Mia of Craftartista.  Mia has chosen Beautiful World as her theme for October.  Below is my first interpretation of her theme.

I began by copying an image of the western hemisphere.  I then colored it using watercolor pencils.  I adhered the sentiment to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb white cardstock

 

Note I adhered the word "big" upside down, but I had no time to change or redo it because I am posting this mere minutes before it will publish online.

Falling Leaves

 

Because it's Friday, I'm joining Nicole for Friday Face-Off and Gillena for Art For Fun Friday.  I'm also at Art Journal Journey where I'm joining Sharon from That Girl Fritchey. Sharon's theme is Hello Autumn. This may be my final AJJ entry for September. 

It's obvious I named this Falling Leaves.  Details are below.

 

 

I've often said I can't draw.  However, I attempted to draw and color falling leaves.  I was inspired by the leaves falling in my back yard as I watered my herbs.  

 

I was impressed by the different colors of the leaves and I tried to reproduce those on my 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb white cardstock using watercolor pencils.  I used nine watercolor pencils to color the leaves and two to color the stems.  When all the leaves were dry, I added the computer generated text.

Persistence of a Memory

 

The first time I saw Dali's Persistence of Memory was when I lived in Shawnee-Mission, one of the suburbs of Kansas City, Kansas.  It was part of a traveling Dali exhibit at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri.  I called it Dripping Clocks and did so for years because I had no idea what it was called.  However, a visit to the St. Petersburg, Florida Dali Museum, which had reproductions, finally gave me the actual name of the painting.

Today I'm sharing my own interpretation of Persistence.  I'm also at Art Journal Journey where I'm joining Sharon from That Girl Fritchey. Sharon's theme is Hello Autumn.

Not to take anything away from Dali, I call this Persistence of a memory.  Details are below.

 

 

I first laid a sprig of leaves and stems I pressed and dried on a 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) sheet of 110 lb white cardstock.  I then watered down red fluid acrylic paint (Golden brand) and painted around the leaves and stems using a small brush.  Finally, I added the computer generated words I outlined using a black Posca pen.

I began by adhering a napkin from my stash to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb white cardstock using a glue stick. It was far easier to write these words than it was to get the napkin adhered without a lot of wrinkles.  When it was as smooth as I could possibly get it, I added the computer generated text.

Scary

 

I want to begin by thanking my friend Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal, for hosting the month of August.  She was a gracious host who visited everyone.  She also created wonderful art that exemplified her theme.  Thank you dear friend.

Today we introduce a new host, like we do at the beginning of every month.  Please give a big Art Journal Journey welcome to Sharon from That Girl Fritchey.  Sharon brings a different perspective to AJJ.  Sharon is a scrapbooker who combines that with art journaling.  This is Sharon's third year hosting.  Sharon's theme for September is Hello Autumn.

When I think of autumn I think of Halloween.  I think bats, spiders, and witches flying around on broomsticks.  I hope you enjoy this first interpretation of the theme.

I created this entry with the help of three napkins.  I began by adhering the first napkin from my stash to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb beige cardstock using a glue stick.  I then added bits and pieces of the two other napkins.  I was a bit surprised by the color change when I adhered or overlaid the other napkins.

Summer in America

 

Today you will find me at Art Journal Journey, where I'm joining my friend Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal.  Erika's theme at AJJ is In the good old summertime.  This will be my final entry in August.  However, there is still ample time to join with your entry.

This is my interpretation of Summer in America.  Detail images are below.

 

I began by adhering a napkin with stars from my stash to 5 X 8 in (12.7 X 20.32 cm) 110 lb cardstock using a glue stick.  Then I adhered another napkin from my stash over the first one, also using a glue stick.  Next I added an image from my stash, but my color laser printer isn't working at the moment, so I had to use my black only laser printer to print the three women smoking meat over a barbecue.  Finally, I attempted to adhere two cut fireworks images to the page.

Signs of Summer

 

Today Bleubeard and I are at Art Journal Journey, where we're joining our friend Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal.  Erika's theme at AJJ is In the good old summertime.  This will be our penultimate AJJ post for August. 

And because tomorrow will be Friday, we're also joining Nicole for Friday Face-Off and Gillena for Art For Fun Friday.  

There are several signs of summer and several faces on this journal page.  Details are below.

 

 

I began by creating one of my favorite backgrounds where I combined a blue Staz-on reinker and a brown Staz-on reinker with 91% isopropyl alcohol.  I deconstructed a gifted napkin from my stash.  I then adhered each piece that was shaped like a postage stamp.  Everything went well until I got to "Tropical Life." It slipped and the glue stick was so strong, I was unable to move it without fear of tearing the napkin.  Also, some of the edges flipped backward.  Everything was perfect until I added the glue stick.
