I'm
trying desperately to get back into posting. I don't promise it will
be every day, but right now, I have zero desire to create art. However, it's Friday, which means it's time to join Friday Smiles, hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time). Let's visit Annie and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday. I just hope they remember who I am (grin).
As I was putting my Christmas trees away this year, I thought I would share a few of them.
Unfortunately, I already packed most of them away before I thought to take any photos. I bought these three several years ago and decorated them myself. Each came plain inside a weighted burlap bag.
I decorated the tall one with tiny red bows and pine cones.
I decorated the smallest tree with tiny porcelain Santas.
I decorated the middle sized tree with rocking horses.
This gold colored tree was filled with a green candle that put off a lovely pine scent.
Possibly one of my very favorite trees is this napkin holder I use to hold my Christmas cards I get each year. I had to find an old photo because it's the first thing I pack and I didn't use the other trees this year. You can tell it's old because it's been several years since the rocking horse Christmas stamp was new.
I bought this tree years ago. There was nothing on it, just the tree and the burlap base. I then purchased the poinsettias, little glass balls, ribbon, and the angel for the topper. It took me a several hours of arranging and rearranging until I was happy with my selections.
This is my glitter ball tree I bought a few years ago at an after-Christmas sale. It goes well with the various rocking horses that live on the desk.
And finally, I bought this tree specifically for my red (mostly cardinal) and brown main floor bath.
Now for a few cat and (mostly) Christmas tree funnies:
Even though your tree (s) and Christmas decorations may be packed away for another year, a few of these should make you smile. I guess I'm lucky. Neither of my cats climb and they don't bother my trees. Maybe I'm lucky, or maybe these funnies are atypical of feline behavior around Christmas trees.
Thanks for spending part of your Friday here. Bleubeard and I would love to see you at Friday Smiles, too.

Love your trees and the cat funnies. We didn't put a tree this year (shame on us) but without doubt Odie would have climbed it. He likes unwrapping presents too.
Hi Elizabeth, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year....right that's got that out of the way Lol! Great to see you. I always wondered why my mother-in-law hung her Christmas tree from the ceiling and now I know Hee! Hee! cats are so naughty but lovely too. Take care and sending hugs, Angela xXx
Hello Elizabeth. Nice to see you back. My Christmas was packed away on 7th January and already that seems like ages ago, but I enjoyed seeing all your trees. I have very little space for putting mine so one has to be enough, but I can get a -a lot!!- of decorations on it. Fortunately none of my cats bothered with the tree, maybe because it is artificial and doesn-t smell like the fresh ones do. Leo occasionally laid down under it and patted at a low hanging ball, but that is all. I hope this week goes well for you. Kate xx
...cat certainly have a fascination with Christmas trees. Our tree is still up.
I guess the next holiday is Valentine’s Day, now that all the Christmas stuff is put away. Some of my neighbors still have the colored lights on every night, though. You ddn’t shwo any outdoor decor, but your little trees are pretty.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Taking a break from art isn't a bad thing. It makes it more meaningful when you are ready to dig in again.
I am so glad you showed your trees. You have some wonderful ones. I love those tiny Santa ornaments in the first photos. They're really sweet and very special. And your glitter ball tree was a terrific find. Very cheery. I like how you decorated your angel-topped tree, too!
The cat memes remind me of the time Stimpy knocked down the Christmas tree on Christmas day, right as people were arriving for dinner. Those were the days....
I feel all Christmas-sy! Love the rocking horse cup! And that tree especially. No, that´s a lie, I cannot decide!
The funnies are great!! Thank you for all the smiles!
It's good to see you back...how could we ever forget you? :-)
Happy 2024. You have a lot of trees....so pretty. Mine were put away at the begining of Jan.
Hugs,
Annie x
Our cats have never bothered our Christmas trees. I don't know why not, but I'm not looking gift cats in the mouth.
All of my Christmas decorations are still piled in the spare room waiting to be put in the crawl space. It's been so cold here, I haven't wanted to do it.
Great to see all your lovely Christmas trees. My favorite is the red one in the bathroom.
I enjoyed all the cat funnies and gorgeous kitty images.
My decorations get taken down the day after Epiphany (7 of January),but only yesterday I took down the beautiful wreath on the door and pulled out all the pretty bits, the green foliage goes in the bin as it is not an artificial one, but real pine.
Enjoy your weekend,
Lisca
still laughing! Glad you returned to us! LeeAnna and Milo
I enjoyed seeing your Christmas trees, Elizabeth, and the funnies about cats and Christmas trees made me laugh all the way through. We only had our tree knocked down once while I was growing up. My little sister Donnie was lying under it ,when my from under the tree. Her long ringlets got caught in the branches, and down the tree came. She still loves Coke to this day! Happy weekend to you!
I did enjoy seeing your trees, and thank you for a super collection of cat funnies.
Take care and have a good weekend.
All the best Jan
I'm glad you're going do a bit of posting. When we had the 2 cats, they never tried to climb the tree. Leo liked the reflecting lights around the room and he'd go after them-kind of like bulb laser pointers. And Emmie loved to sleep under the tree. Pete could care less about the tree, which makes sense being a dog, but Maddie likes to wipe herself off on it when she comes in wet. It's fun to see your trees, and hopefully your muse will return one of these days. But until then, have a great start to your weekend. hugs-Erika
I only once had a cat that wouldn't leave the tree alone and knocked it over. That was about 40 years ago. I've been really lucky with cats and Christmas trees. Loved all the pictures, though. Especially the family photo with the cat midair!!
Your Christmas trees are so pretty. I like how you have a theme for each tree. Stay warm and safe
Breaks are good. Powerful to change things up for a reset.
Those cats are quite something. I've had several trees taken down!
oh that is a lot of Christmas. LOL I hope your are feeling well and not in too much pain.
I love your trees! especially that glitter ball tree. It's different than anything I've seen. My tabletop tree (I got it while The Husband was living at a distance so he could use the big tree) has a burlap-covered base.
