Birdsong

Today we welcome a new host, as we always do each month.  But first, I want to thank Matilde for her wonderful hosting again this year.  This month our host is the very talented Alison from Craftytrog's Arty Adventures.  Her theme is Come Fly With Me. I went the traditional route and chose these adorable birds to represent flying.

I call this Birdsong.  I apologize this has a glare on one of the birds.  I really need a scanner!

The upper left hand side of the spread had a bit of trouble staying focused, but at least you can see the crackle finish I created.  More detail shots:

You can see where I got the title of the spread.

I started this spread by laying down a combination of yellow and raw umber fluid acrylic paints to which I also added white glue for a crackle effect.  The birds came from a calendar and the washi tape was gifted.  I added a mat around each of the birds. I added the date and called it finished.

Alison, Chris, Erika, Valerie, Bleubeard, and I are delighted you joined us and hope to see you this month at Art Journal Journey as you share your own interpretation of Come Fly With Me.

We welcome art journal pages that meet the theme requirements, altered book pages, canvases, loose, or stand alone pages including fabric and digital art.  We cannot leave comments on Facebook or Instagram entries.  We do not allow cards, tags, index cards, ATCs, or ATCoins, unless they are part of a journal page, and as much as we don't want to, will be forced to delete your entry.  Please remember if your blog is not in English, you must either provide a translation tool or translate it for us.  Hope to see you soon at Art Journal Journey

I also want to wish all my friends in Canada a very happy and safe 156th Canada Day!!

I like the texture you created and the lovely birds on your page Elizabeth. It's a warm summertime page, and seeing it's foggy and grey (again) I love the idea of sunshine and birds singing. This is perfect for Alison's AJJ challenge. I'm looking forward to this one. Happy July to you. I don't know how excited I am about the long holiday weekend with the way this country is going backwards, but maybe if the sun comes out it will be a little better. Hugs-Erika

Hi Elizabeth! I really love your beautiful art journal spread with the yellow, crackled background. It looks awesome! (And I really like the date - I need one of those stampers!) I love each of your pretty, matted bird images and I especially like the inspiration for your title - from the washi tape. So creative! I hope you have a wonderful July. Hugs, Sharon
