T Stands For Teapot

It's tea time and I am having tea with Alison, aka Craftytrog, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.

Her theme is Play it again, Sam and I have a tea related song.

This is an American song first published in 1939.  The song proved to be very popular in the UK and Canada soon after it was first introduced.  There are accompanying motions so children can relate to the song.  It is definitely a favorite on children's albums.

I'm a little teapot
short and stout.
Here is my handle,
here is my spout.

Although this is a coffee pot and not a teapot, and is definitely not short or stout, it is a beautiful representation of American toleware.  The coffee pot was made around 1850.  The postage stamp was issued in 2002.

There are times I really dislike my mail carrier.  More than once I have told him I use these stamps in my art, but he still insists on defacing them, sometimes beyond recognition, when they haven't been cancelled before they reach him.

I began this entry by deconstructing corrugated cardboard to which I glued a portion of vintage sheet music.  I added gold fluid acrylic paint to the cardboard and sheet music before adding the teapot I printed, colored with watercolors, and fussy cut.  I then added the song lyrics I printed on the back of cardstock that was in my recycle box.  Finally, I added five cancelled postage stamps.

In addition to Art Journal Journey, I am joining Creative Artiste's 81st challenge.  For inclusion, I must also use at least three different mediums.  These are corrugated cardboard, postage stamps, vintage sheet music, gold acrylic paint, blue watercolor, and computer generated song words and teapot.

For Day 12 of 22, I recycled corrugated cardboard, vintage sheet music, used copier/printer paper, and five cancelled postage stamps.  The watercolor and gold fluid acrylic paint were new.

Now it's your turn to show us your drink related post.  You may share photos, a place you visited, an empty cup, a full cup, teapot, or mug, movies, postcards, books, magazines, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below, then Bleubeard and I, along with other T gang friends will be by to visit.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that your photos may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday.  I hope this doesn't sound like a cop out, but we will discuss the napkin swap next week instead of this week as promised.

Please don't forget to also join Bleubeard and me at Art Journal Journey and Creative Artiste, as well as T this Tuesday.

Such a fabulous npage! I love how you used the corrugated card for the background with that beautiful gold, and that teapot with the song lyrics and postage stamps is perfect too 😁. Wishing you a very Happy T Tuesday! Hugs Jo x

What a lovely page, Elizabeth! I love everything about it - the cardboard, the sheet music, the teapot, the stamps. I don't mind that the stamps show a coffee pot, they are fabulous. I sometimes dislike our mail carrier for other things - that the mail is crumpled up and squeezed into the mail slot instead of putting them in the big basket I have provided, and that sometimes he steps right into my little shady flower bed that borders my front porch.

I cannot tell you the number of times I've sung this with kiddies! I like it.

Somehow it comes as a surprise that someone COMPOSED that song! It just seems to have always been there.

We have a wonderful mail carrier! She's really fun to talk to, and very responsible. Her predecessor was the same. Must be really good luck!

I'll be in and out of contact for a while as we are on a road trip. I think I'll have posts for a couple of days and mostly keep up until we really get underway on THursday.

This was my favorite song as a little girl. We had a 78rpm record that I played over and over, right along with another, Teddy Bears picnic. Wow, does that bring childhood memories back! Thanks for the memories! To answer your question about did I see your Singing in the rain page. I did and commented ,but was late, so you probably hadn’t been back to see. And in answer to your question about Passage to India: that is the one we didn’t like! Sorry. Bad service and bad food as far as I was concerned.

What a fun page for T and for Alison's song challenge. I like how you've been recycling so many things in your art this month. And I used think this song was so fun. I love how it is still around for kids, even if it has been so many years since it first came out. I didn't know how old of a song it is. I hope you have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

What a wonderful journal page! Love the theme, the song, and of course the recycled components. The touches of gold are a beautiful addition and detail. I do remember the song well. We sang it along with doing the motions many times when I was in Brownies and Girl Scouts:)
Happy T day!

Great texture with this journal page. How clever of you to think of the teapot stamps to add to your page with your pretty cutout teapot and sing song rhyme. The sheet music background is perfect and the corrugated cardboard is great texture.

Such lovely stamps. I love that series. My favorite is the Navajo jewelry necklace.
The song is cute. I remember it from my childhood (I spent much of my early childhood in England).
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Fond memories of that song :)

It's not the mail carrier's job to worry about the stamps, surely. That's the job of the USPS workers before the mail gets to him. Does he weigh packages, too? He should remember this mantra: "It's Not Up To You."

Happy T Tuesday

Brilliant! W@e used to sing this in the Brownies. Consequently it is a song I have always sung and performed with little ones when entertaining them for tea or whatever.
Love those postage stamps!
Another triumph.
