Another trip to The Dominican Republic

This will be my final time to join Valerie at Bastelmania, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  I'm sure you know by now her theme is Spring.

We are continuing our trip to The Dominican Republic.

In case you need a translation, The Dominican Republic is an island in the Greater Antilles Archipelago, occupying more than two thirds of Hispaniola Island. To the north it borders the Atlantic Ocean, to the south the Caribbean Sea, to the east Puerto Rico, and to the west the country of Haiti.

Hispaniola is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Not far from Puerto Plata is Sosúa which sits on Sosúa Bay. Mirador Park is located there.

The Fuerte San Felipe (San Felipe Fort) is located on a small peninsula on Bahia de Puerto Plata bay.
Take a cable car tour from the top of Mount Isabel (2555 feet or 855 meters above sea level).

Visit El Morro National Park with its various bird species, including Am. kestral and wood stork.

I started this page by combining two staz-on colors and 91% isopropyl alcohol I applied to 110 lb cardstock.  I found all the images in several travel and cruise magazines I receive free in the mail.  I computer generated the words based on various things I learned about the Dominican Republic, several of which were in the fore mentioned magazines.  I matted the words using left over black cardstock from a previous project and added the washi tape to signify this is a journal page from the Caribbean project.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by today.  Please also join Bleubeard and me at Art Journal Journey where all month long we have shared our interpretation of Valerie's theme Spring.

This brought back memories of a British blogger Lindsay, who I used to follow. She had lived in the Dominican Republic for many years, married to a younger local man. About 2 years ago just before Christmas she was murdered, and from later reports it appeared to have been done by the husband and stepsons. It was quite shocking at the time!

Great choice of a place to visit. The history of various Caribbean islands is really amazing.

It does look lovely there in your photos. Then I noticed Sami's comment, that sounds scary. Nothing like the beautiful place we shared. And the plain black behind your photos looks good, but not as good as the envelopes. Smile. This is another nice page for Valerie's challenge. It's been a fun month at AJJ once again also. hugs-Erika

It's dreary and rainy here so a trip to the tropics with sunshine and blue water is just the thing
