You probably know by now that Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month. Our theme is What's Your Style?
Today I'm tapping into one of my favorite mixed media artists: Laly Mille. I remember seeing a window she actually drew in one of her journals she shared on her web site some time back. Bleubeard thinks it's a great window to escape, but not to enter. I have a few detail shots for you to peruse.
I started by using green watercolors on the 110 lb cardstock. Once dry, I added the stamping in two corners. Next, I cut the window from a paint brochure I picked up at a big box home improvement store. I colored the ladder using a white and a black water soluble crayon. I liked how I was able to make the ladder look aged and weather worn. I then added the focal image to the background, along with a gifted postage stamp. Finally, I added the sentiment using two different types of stickers.

Fun page. I need a window of opportunity right now! Have a great day, hope your boys are really better, hugs, Valerie
Absolutely amazing! What a fabulous page, Elizabeth! And how pleased I am to see you repurposed the greek stamp showing the ancient theater of Kassopis (Ipiros). Have a great day, my friend.
Another fabulous page! The different elements came together so beautifully and the wording and window image made me smile, so clever 😁. I hope you're having a lovely week! Hugs Jo x
Turning a metaphor (window of opportunity) into a literal image (an actual window on an ordinary house) is an interesting exercise. It's easy to forget that metaphors have a basis in real objects.

Your mind never stops. I love this Windows of opportunity. The page is just lovely. Have a great day.
Fun. I'm thinking of all the tv shows where kids have climbed in and out of windows.

A very clever matching of title and art!
Word play is definitely your style my friend. Windows are fun; they make great focuses of art pages. This is another great style page. hugs-Erika
Fun and clever, though.... I´d simply jump. And maybe break an ankle ;-)
I love the colors and the idea to draw something in a photograph - I will keep this in mind!
Don't we all need a window of opportunity now and again. What a great way to illustrate it with this beautiful window. I just hope the ladder is safe and ready for me to climb out onto.
Hugs, Neet xxx
This is a great page. I love the green you chose. And the window is haunting. I think windows and doors are evocative in pictures anyway, and this treatment brings that out.
I love this! I also follow the artist you mentioned.
I love how you made this window of opportunity - Laly Mille's work is so inspiring and this is so beautiful! Hugs,Chrisx
