T Stands For Puffin

Today we are celebrating T Time at my dining room table.  My drink of choice is iced tea.  I'll explain why I used a mug instead of a glass in a minute, but first, I want to call attention to

this adorable puffin that flew out of my mailbox on Saturday.

It was an amazing gift from Mae, who is so thoughtful and knows how to show it.  Originally I was going to block my address with the mug, then realized the crocheted coaster would be better.

And because Lisca likes to see the postage stamps, this one is postmarked from Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland.  I found the web site with the 2020 pig, but I couldn't get it to translate.  UPDATE: The translation is supposed to be in German, so maybe someone can let us know what it is.  The translation I used thought it was German, but Lisca has given us the exact Icelandic translation and information about the piglet and the entire series.  Here's the web site and the stamp of the piglet.  Before I forget, I want to thank Mae from the bottom of my very grateful heart for her thoughtfulness sending this wonderful postcard.  Thank you so much, Mae!!

It's now time to share your own drink inspired post this week.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

Beautiful postcard from Mae. I looked at the website but couldn't find anything in German. And you didn't say why you were drinking from a mug! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

It is a beautiful postcard, and lovely stamp. The first thing I noticed about your iced tea, was not what it was in, but the fact there was no ice! LOL Happy T Day, Elizabeth.

That is so thoughtful of Mae. A beautiful card and an even more beautiful stamp.
I looked it up and the info about the stamp is in Icelandic. Thanks to Google translate I am able to tell you that the info about the stamp reads:
"Young Icelandic domestic animals IV - Pig - Self-adhesive - 50g outside Europe
Release date 07-05-2020
Designer Hlynur Olafsson/ Bara Kristinsdottir."

Another website tells me this:"The fourth and last set in Postphil’s series “The young of Iceland’s domestic animals” are to be released in May this year. After kids and kittens in 2017, calves and lambs in 2018 and puppies and horses in 2019, 2020 will see the release of the last of our “animals of honour”, the chick and the piglet.
Pigs first set hoof in Iceland with the first settlers (and their chickens!) at the end of the ninth century. It is believed that pigs lived almost wild after that. Many place names in Iceland refer to pigs, such as Svínafell (Pig mountain), Svínavatn (Pig lake), Galtarholt (pigs hillock), Galtalækur (Pig stream) etc… These names give us insight on the importance pigs must have had through the ages."
I hope this is helpful,
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Hi Elizabeth, I'm so glad the postcard arrived. As I wrote during the trip, we LOVED seeing the puffins and took all kinds of photos of them as well as buying post cards..

Post cards, much as I have always loved them, are much slower than the Internet. I did not see the stamp, which looks very neat! The ship has a mailing service for passengers -- you turn in the post cards and they do the rest. We were in a covid-safe bubble and would not have been allowed in a post office.

My favorite puffin is here: https://maefood.blogspot.com/2021/07/iceland.html

Nice postcard. It was thoughtful of Mae to send you one from Iceland. That pig on the stamp is really cute and looks like something you would find in a children's book. And that looks like tea with your postcard. It looks like a nice afternoon or evening break. Hope you have a super T day my friend. Hugs-Erika

Ohhh, they´re both so cute, the Puffin and the pig!
The Puffin wins, though.
The coaster is cute, too.
I had a .... "stool" from Ingo´s Grandma in that color - sadly after over 40 years the plastic was done. Awww. it had fur! And my family´s bathroom came in this green, too! I still have pics of my Bro and myself taking a bath in the shower together :-)
Oh, that green.

Puffins are so attractive! I’ve always loved them. Thanks for your visit, Elizabeth. The full moons all have numerous names depending on which Native American tribe named them. When I was making the dolls I just chose the name I felt I could most easily depict.
