T Stands For Tisanes

Friday was Squiggles' fifth birthday.

A neighbor gave me a few party hats and napkins.  I thought it would be fun for the cats to wear them to celebrate Sqiggles' big day.  Neither cat would wear one, and neither cat would allow me to take his photo.  They would move when I got near and turn their backs.  I envisioned them both laughing at me, since I tried to get them to wear the hats!  That's when I decided it was time for tisanes.

Tisanes: an infusion (as of dried herbs) used as a beverage or for medicinal effects.

It appears that I have been joined by a fly and a partial glass of water on my new outdoor picnic table.

It was time to cut another batch of the pineapple mint, which is a tisane when turned into tea.

Add the mint to a partial glass of water.  Be sure there are no leaves in the water.  You may have to remove a bit of the water from the glass.

Change the water every few days.   Watch for roots to take hold, then place the rooted shoots in soil.  Within a few days, you will be able to harvest your own tisanes.  Mine are pineapple mint.  In the event you prefer to leave the stems in water, you can cut leaves from them after they have grown awhile.

It's now time to share your own drink related post this week.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, ATCs, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Please share below and the birthday boy, along with Bleubeard and I, will join the rest of the T gang and be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday, and not just this year.

Pineapple mint? That is one I have not come across and will look for. Thank you.
I share the camera phobia - so cannot blame the cats.
Happy birthday to Squiggles.

Fabulous post Elizabeth! I would have loved to see the boys in hats! We had a cat when I was little who would let me put a bonnet on him!
I have been taking cuttings of mints too! They have roots already!

My pineapple mint died from the intense heat we experienced so I never got to give it a taste. How was yours?
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Too bad the kitties weren't cooperating when it came for Squiggle's birthday. My dogs wouldn't wear hats either, but they would try to rip them apart. Does pineapple mint have a pineapple taste in a tisane? And your garden will be getting bigger soon I think when you plant this mint. Hope you have a wonderful T day, and I did enjoy this different take on T this week. Have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

Happy Birthday, Squiggles. The trick to a hat (although a bandana is easier) is to have a treat in hand and not give it until said photo is taken. It's a 50/50 deal -- cats are so transactional, at least Lizzie is!

Happy Birthday Squiggles, our dog wouldn’t wear anything, we tried a Christmas hat and he ripped it straight off, our grand doggies were always dressed up at halloweeen, Christmas , etc
I’ve never heard of pineapple mint, sounds interesting, my husband won’t grow mint here, we tried it in a pot but the heat kills it we grew it in England and he couldn’t stop it spreading,
Happy T Day Elizabeth, take care

My friend in France always made a tisane (also the word for it in French) from a few stems of mint, placed in a mug with boiling water poured over them. She served it hot. It was very minty.

Happy birthday, Squiggles! I hope you are happy with your privacy, though we would like to see you.

LOL, I´m so with Sqiggles - once we got into a "fight" as Ingo WANTED to take a pic of me in front of Peter Pan in Perth and I turned my back cause I hate my pic taken!
Aren´t we all like Peter Pan, who wants to grow up?

Ohhhh, pineapple mint sounds so yummy!

Any drink, huh, I have many today ;-)

Happy birthday to squiggles! My dogs never minded being dressed up, but Kitty would never let me put anything on her. She always hid when I took photos, too. Here they serve fresh mint tea in many restaurants by putting the mint into the boiling water and letting it steep. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

Happy Birthday Squiggles. I don't blame the two of them refusing to be dressed up, they both look fine as they are.
I have never heard of `pineapple mint before, Iand a now wondering does it have just a hint of pineapple or a strong taste of them? I drink tisanes in preference to either tea or coffee, but am afraid mine are bought in packets like teabags.
Looks like another hot day here in the UK - I am longing for it to be a bit cooler at night - my sleep pattern is all over the place.
Take care Elizabeth

Elizabeth, happy birthday to Sqiggles. Super fun that you tried the hats and it doesn't surprise that they refused to let you take a picture or to keep them on! LOL!

Very cool share on the pineapple mint. I am so impressed you know all this and have pineapple mint (I have never heard of it).

Happy T-day! Hugz

I'm a little dense and not quite following your tisane prep. So you take some cuttings from the pineapple mint plant, put them in water until they root. Remove the new shoots and plant them, then drink the water they were rooted in as a tea? Or are you collecting leaves, pouring boiling water over them and letting them steep for 10 or 15 min. and then drinking that water as the tea?

Had to laugh that the boys didn't want to wear the party hats or have their pictures taken. Ink didn't like having his picture taken and would turn away at the last minute. Ink wouldn't tolerate being dressed up, either. Happy T Day!

Uncooperative kitties! Now that is NOT a surprise, hee hee. The mint looks good! I am enjoying the flavor of my orange mint best, then the spearmint, although I think spearmint is not a pretty plant. But the orange mint and peppermint are pretty, with dark, rounded leaves.

Happy birthday to Squiggles even though he was camera shy. Pineapple mint- that's a new one to me. Interesting how many varieties there are.

The mint I bought this spring does not have much flavour. I should find another one.

FIVE! What?!?! They grow up so fast. :) The hats would have been hysterical.

I have two varieties of mint this year...mojito mint (I don't even like mojitos...or rum) and a rounded leaf mint...not sure of the name, I've had it for years.

Happy T day!

Happy belated Birthday to Squiggles!

Every time I hear the word "tisane" I think of Poirot :) The ones I drink come already dried/prepared for me to pour boiling/hot water over them, but I keep meaning to use my mint to make my own.

I can't seem to keep track of days and completely forgot it was Tuesday! *sigh* Happy T Tuesday :)

Happy 5th birthday Squiggles! So lovely of you to celebrate with a party even though he wouldn't pose for photos ...ha,ha 😁. The pineapple mint sounds delicious, we often have mint and sugar on fresh pineapple (from a Jamie Oliver cookbook) - so refreshing! Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

Oh yes! I had a pieapple mint once, I wonder what happened to it!? The one I have now was growing out of someone's window, and I thought poor thing, so took it home, its doing okay now! We have doggy birthday parties too! The best one I think was when I was walking dogs. I took them all back to mine, after their walk and they all wore party hats and had a lovely doggy birthday cake and biscuits! Happy T Day!
