For love of nature

Today I'm joining Art Journal Journey and our host Mia, who many of you know as Craftartista.  As you may know, her theme this month is Butterflies.

I started this spread with a sheet of my shaving cream watercolor paper to which I sewed the focal image.

I fell in love with this image I thought went so well with the background.

Speaking of background, I took this photo to show the various colors I used in the shaving cream paper and in the variegated thread I used.

Next, I added the flowers along one side of the focal image.  The flower color was supposed to match because I thought I had grabbed the same pink I used in the shaving cream, but obviously, I used an orange pink.  The centers were blue buttons

that actually did match the blue in the background.

For this page, I started with my shaving cream background of neon yellow,  blue, pink, and brown.  I added the focal image using variegated thread.  I then added the flowers and buttons on the side of the focal image.

Thanks for dropping by today.  I am really grateful for your visit and also hope to see you on your blog or at Art Journal Journey

Such a fun page with the shaving cream background. I think all the colors on your page blend well. Great idea to add the 3-D flowers along the edge of the print. The epitome of wonderful, carefree summer days.

Very pretty. I like the use of the buttons and I like the optical illusion of the cone flower petals as wings for the finch.

I was wondering how you made that cool background. I love the effect and the colors. And yes, I agree, the goldfinch picture is wonderful. It all works so well, and makes me think of a beautiful summer day. We're having a beautiful and cooler day here. Hope you're not in that heat I saw on the news last night. Hugs-Erika

That's a gorgeous shaving foam background. Mine never turn out as pretty as this one - mine are always too busy. This is just perfect and looks lovely with the picture of the bird and the butterfly in the meadow of flowers.
Sending hugs - and tickles to you know who

This is such a beautiful page - I love your shaving foam background! You have got these colours just right as they catch the tones of the butterfly and the flower at the top perfectly! I am getting dreadfully behind...as you may have noticed! Hugs, Chrisx
