Butterfly Beauties

I'm once again joining Art Journal Journey and our host Mia who has chosen Butterflies as her theme this month.

I'm calling this latest entry Butterfly Beauties.

Above is a fussy cut butterfly I added to the page.

It's obvious the butterfly on the left was added after I sewed the wallpaper sample to the cardstock.

The yellow and brown butterfly were part of the wallpaper sample, but the blue butterfly in the lower center right was not.

This butterfly was also fussy cut, only not very fussy, I fear.

This shows three of the many butterflies on this page.

For this latest entry, I started by cutting out a portion of a very large wallpaper sample which I attached to a sheet of 110 lb cardstock using variegated thread.  I then cut various butterflies from a sheet of similar wallpaper from the same company and affixed them using glue stick.

Thanks beyond belief for dropping by today.  Bleubeard and I are really grateful for your visit and also hope to see you at Art Journal Journey

Beautiful. Not the point.. but in our old place we had the bathroom decorated with leaves like that!

Hope to see some butterflies. Cold and grey today, your work gave me a smile for sure!
Thank you :-) x

Wonderful butterflies. Love how you sewed the page, too! It's a bright and sunny day here, but not too warm, so I'm looking forward to a nice walk along the Rhine and through the field. Have a great day, take care! Hugs, Valerie

I like how the butterflies look on this piece.I love the old wallpaper. It is beautiful. And adding the butterflies make it even prettier. What a great idea for Mia's challenge. And a pretty one too. Hope your week is going well. We're having a couple of beautiful days before the heat returns. Hugs-Erika

I like the butterfly who has flown over the stitching. He is an individualist, like you.
I am always mesmerised by the many ways you can make your art without drawing something. (You did once draw a cat which I loved and still remember, and something else which I don't remember (and I am happy to be reminded of anything else)). This is a lovely butterfly piece and would look good framed on the wall.
Thanks very much for visiting Orange E. after my long (gardening) absence.
Have a great rest of June, Elizabeth, you and the boys, and a great rest of the year too if you like.
Love,
Sheila

This is an awfully pretty page, Elizabeth. I really love the butterflies you chose -- they have a wonderful painterly feel and the whole piece reminds me of those botanical illustrations of the 1800s. It's really beautiful.

Wallpaper as your page base! Great idea. It’s a sturdy paper form for sure. I used to use it for something but it’s been so long since those days that I can’t even remember what it was I was making. Those sample books were so fun to look through the endless designs in 3 or 4 different color schemes. Your page is definitely full of butterfly beauties.

Wow, this looks awesome. I always admire how you use stitching on your fantastic pages and those butterflies look so beautiful.
I am getting lots of inspiration from AJJ but the motivation for me is sadly lacking.
Stay safe.
