It's Sunday, which means it's time once again to join Sami at Sami's Colourful World and her Monday Murals. I've really missed this weekly event and am delighted to be back visiting other mural aficionados. Even though it's still Sunday in my world, please be aware that Sami's mural link goes live at 11:01 a.m. my time today.
Today we are honoring William Shakespeare. I'm confident most of you will know who he was, although you may not have studied his works.
Not much is known about Shakespeare's early life, although records indicate he was baptized on April 26, 1564. His true birth date is unknown, but it is generally observed on April 23. Ironically, he also died on April 23 in 1616.
The name of this mural is obvious.
It is painted directly on the side of the mural.
It's quite large and I had to go across the street to capture the entire mural.The name of the mural is "99 Words & Phrases Coined by Shakespeare." It was painted by Jordan Tarrant in 2011. It is located on the side of Imaging Office Systems at 201 N. Mead in Wichita, Kansas (USA).

That’s a great mural, amazing amount of work for a great man but it sure was boring having to read his works for our exams, so hard to understand, when our son was reading Romeo and Juliet for his exams we managed to buy a book explaining it all, not sure it helped as he hated it!!

I like how the artist used writing in various colors in the face and then circled the face with those even now much used quotes from his plays. He was one talented guy, both the artist and the bard too. Hope your new week starts well and your weekend ends well.
What a wonderful mural! I can't help but wonder if there's a local connection with a theater or something. I love it! So many of our common expressions come from Shakespeare.

We have a similar poster at school! I am amazed by how many pithy sayings we got from The Bard.
