Foodie

As I'm sure you know by now, Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal is our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is Favorite Things

It's no secret, I love good food.

I believe that makes me a Foodie, the subject of this journal page.

Dipping into a freebie cook book

sent me when I was president of my local neighborhood association,

in hopes we would consider creating recipes and selling our own cookbooks

as a fundraiser.

Although I showed the cook book to the committee, I didn't recommend it.  We would do all the hard work and only receive a small portion of the profits from the sale of the books.  Ultimately, we passed on the "offer," but I kept the book to use in my art.

For this page, I started with 110 lb. cardstock to which I added my background.  The background was created by laying two colors of green acrylic paint side by side on a plate, then applying the paint using a sea sponge.  I often forgot to twist and turn the sponge, which is best for a good overall effect.  Next, I searched my magazines and found ransom style letters to spell out the title word Foodie.  I then went through the recipes and found the ones I thought were the least disgusting.  Some I cut from the book whole, while others I cut out only the ingredients.  Personally, I doubt I would fix any of these, except possibly a modified version of the baby carrots (using fresh carrots) and the creme de menthe bars.

Bleubeard and I are incredibly delighted you chose to visit us today, and we would love to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Favorite Things.  You still have time to join in before we welcome a new host on February 1.

Disgusting? Some of those recipes don't look too bad to me - and I love the journal pages.

Your thoughts on those recipes are exactly what I thought when reading through your post. Mint=chocolate bars: yes! (A similar one is a favorite of my sister-in-law, but I think her recipe is from Maida Heatter). Carrots: use REAL carrots, why would anyone buy frozen ones? Fund-raising cookbooks are really OVER because food blogs and online magazines!

I think I am a foodie too, although some people are much more foodies than I. This is a fun idea. And we must be on the same wavelength as I have a food page for tomorrow. Smile. Some of these recipes sound delicious. Especially the potatoes and carrots, as they are good cold day foods. Thanks so much for sharing this fun page with that cool background. Hope all is well. hugs-Erika

Those cookbooks work best not as fundraisers but as a way for a group to get all their recipes in one place. I love how you featured the recipes in your art.

Definitely a foodie. I still use my Junior League cookbook which has some fabulous recipes, even if they are about 50 years old! I see lots here that look delicious and thanks for making the photos close-up because it's easier to copy them down!

Oh dear, I am trying to stay away from sweet things for a couple of weeks and I love love love creme de menthe. My mouth is watering at the thoughts of that recipe so I have turned the page up so I cannot see it. Love the thought of the Parmesan potatoes too.
In fact it is a great page full of your favourite things and I think some of them could be on my page too.
Hope you and the boys are keeping safe and well
Hugs, Neet xx
