Circular Thinking

I'm back to join Chris of Pear Shaped Crafting, our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her theme Hold the Line.

I call this Circular Thinking.

I think you can see why.

Of course, you will need to follow the circle

and read the message.

I created this spread in my Scraps altered book.  I began by sewing the circle to an image I found in an old calendar page.  It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, because the width of the stitches had to be adjusted every few stitches.  Some had to be extended beyond what the machine allowed.  I assure you, I will never do that again!  I had a great deal of empty space I needed to cover, so I added a piece of black cardstock.  I then wrote the words  and added the red Hessian/burlap to the far side.

I'm deeply grateful you stopped by today.  Please also join Bleubeard and me at Art Journal Journey.

Tried to link at AJJ, something seems to not be working there.

I was wondering how you did that - great idea and respect.
I get another lesson from scratch on how to prepare the machine. I find it so.darn complicated!

Absolutely love your stitched road... it tickles my brain no end. So clever how it draws the eye to the change in perspective as the road goes round the bend and needs the larger stitches - very cool!

I added a little update to the Inktober post, since you weren't the only one interested in the process of drawing/painting - to save you heading back there: "UPDATE for the curious.... with most of these I started with a loose watercolour painting, then added pen detail and sometimes more watercolour. On days 3 and 5 I started with a very light pencil sketch, then added watercolour and then pen detail."

I still far prefer the painting to the drawing, but that's what we're here for... to learn!!

I love your line today. With the zigzag stitching you could also call it going back and forth. But you are the queen of great word play titles so I think yours is a better one. This is great example for Chris' challenge my friend. Happy Saturday. Hugs-Erika

This is really interesting, Elizabeth. I love the zigzagging stitching adn can't help but think that must be rather difficult with the curve. It's a nice looking piece.

Oh my, I love your stitched circle, its great inspiration for the AJJ theme, it makes me want to try out the machine again. On second thoughts I cannot even thread the needle.
Stay safe.
