T Stands For Autumn and happy mail

Tuesday, October 22 is officially the first day of autumn.  I decided to honor that in my Scraps altered book.  But first,

I have some happy mail to share with you.

Just like Lisca does, I wanted to show the postage stamp.  Isn't it pretty? Do you know who sent this?  Did you guess Iris?  If so, you were correct.

Look at all these lovely goodies Iris sent me.  There's a postcard (Henry the lion), a heart that is good for one event, two butterflies, two lovely envelopes, a button, a shell, a darling image of a woman in a field (from a Flow magazine), a colorful napkin, and an image of tennis shoes.

Here's the lovely message Iris sent on the back of the Henry postcard.  Actually, Iris, thank YOU for being so kind and thinking of me.  I appreciate you.

Today I'm having coffee in my dining room and my Scraps altered book is helping.  Tuesday, September 22 is the official day of autumn in my world.  It is when the Autumnal Equinox occurs in the northern hemisphere and the Spring or Vernal Equinox occurs in the southern hemisphere.  Each season has both an astronomical start date and a meteorological start date. It sounds complicated, but trust me, it’s not!  The astronomical start date is based on the position of the Sun in relation to the Earth, while the meteorological start date is based on the 12-month calendar and the annual temperature cycle.

I'm also joining Jo of Let's Art Journal, our host this month at Art Journal JourneyJo's theme is Texture.  Although the image is fuzzy, I was focusing on the linen texture of the focal image.  I'm fairly certain you can see it in the above photo.

Then there's the cup of coffee I fussy cut from a magazine and colored ever so slightly using my orange water soluble crayon.   Or maybe you could see the texture from my handmade paper or even the stitches I created around the focal image.

"Live in each season as it passes:

breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit."  The quote is by Henry David Thoreau.

Drink YOUR drink.  Mine is coffee today, similar to the image.

For this page, which I created in my Scraps altered book, I began by sewing the focal image to a piece of pale orange handmade (by me) paper using a new variegated thread I've had for ages, but never used.  I chose it for the autumnal colors.  I fussy cut and colored the coffee cup and added the quote.  I hope your autumn or spring equinox is one of pure joy.  For those of you who want to celebrate the equinox, it occurs today (Tuesday) September 22, at 9:31 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).  The Meteorological start date was Tuesday, September 1.  I fear I missed it.

Now it's your turn to share your T entry this week.  The rules are extremely simple.  Your drink related post may be anything from a photo of a glass, cup, or mug, to an actual drink.  You may choose to share a sketch or a digital, hybrid, or traditional page in your scrapbook, art journal, or altered book.  Maybe you'd prefer to share a tag, or wow us with your photography.  You might choose a postcard, decorated card, or magazine image.  You might even draw an image on a used tea bag.  Or perhaps you prefer to review a place you visited, a movie, or book.  It makes no difference as long as it's drink related.  And don't forget that the more unique and outside the box it is, the better we like it.  Please tie it back here, and please link only to your T post, not your entire blog.  When you link, Bleubeard, the T gang, and I will be by to visit.   Bleubeard would also like to remind you that your photos may be taken any time, even months or years ago, if you choose.

Hi Elizabeth,
I like your collages with coffee cups!

In answer to Kathy's question about the link to Sharon's blog: I think I understand the seemingly strange behavior of google. The link that's provided in the Linky tool is:
https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/4722032610677529676/6722561912959118207

For Sharon, this was the link to her edit page for a blog post. Google won't let you edit her page (obviously) so instead, it links to your list of posts, which is as close as it can get to what it thinks you want. If you are not signed into Google Blogger, it just links to the blogger sign-in page. I don't think this is malware.

be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

Yipeeee, after all it arrived ("priority"??? Slow priority!).
Yes. Autumn now. 24C max. I will (!) try (...) to follow your words of your art.
Have an apple in the fridge to have on my way to Bro and the Nieces...

Great page for your scrap altered book. Yes, the textures come out very clearly.
I like the quote at the bottom about living each season. I love it that where we live there is a big difference in the seasons. Cold in winter, hot in summer. On the south coast of Spain, where my sister lives, it is always warm. It is warm and sunny in the winter and hot and sunny in the summer. Not my cuppa tea.
Now that was happy mail. How kind of Iris to send you a card with some goodies.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
