T Stands For Still Sick

I apologize for not visiting either my T Tuesday or Second Look group, but I am very sick.

Chocolate milk is about all I can keep down, but when I feel a headache coming on, I drink a small cup of coffee, which staves my headache.

My friend Joseph insisted he take me to Emergency Care.  I told him I couldn't afford it, but he said they could determine why I was still so ill.

The person who looked at me, said I had a "bug."  I was given a prescription for something that looked and tasted very much like

https://i5.walmartimages.com/seo/Pepto-Bismol-Ultra-5-Symptom-Stomach-Relief-Liquid-Original-12-oz_2e4a1c46-6df3-411c-a5f4-17a26f94c450.d211f9c0d9906bdc40b8757f948337a2.jpeg?odnHeight=573&odnWidth=573&odnBg=FFFFFF  Pepto Bismol.  My prescription was for 4 fluid ounces and cost me $12.00 (USD).  Pepto Bismol at Walmart cost $7.48 + tax for 12 fluid ounces (USD).  I am not just still sick, I am now also left with a huge bill to pay and 4 ounces of medicine I could have gotten myself at Walmart.   So much for worthless Emergency Care.

I've shown you mine, now it's time to share your own drink related post.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I will gladly visit, as will other T participants.  Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.  Please remember to visit your fellow T participants.

I apologize, but it took all my strength just to write this post.  Please be aware, I promise to visit as soon as I am able.

Oh no, dear Elizabeth,
I’m so sorry to hear you are feeling unwell again, and that once more you didn’t have a good experience with medical care. I’m not a doctor, but from your description it sounds like you may have caught a salmonella infection or norovirus.

Both can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches — and in both cases it’s important to stay hydrated and replace lost minerals. Chocolate milk gives you some liquid and energy, but unfortunately dairy can sometimes make stomach and intestinal problems worse. If you can, it might help to switch to lighter, gentler fluids for a few days.

In either case, it’s important to drink plenty of fluids (water or tea). Home remedies that can help include apple cider vinegar diluted with water (or another good vinegar if that’s all you have), lemon juice with water, herbal teas such as fennel, ginger, chamomile, or caraway, and also tomato juice, lightly salted vegetable broth (even from instant powder) oder diluted apple juice (half juice, half water). The main goal is to flush out the pathogens, support your immune system, and calm your stomach and intestines.

Here is another very inexpensive home remedie that might help:
Simple Homemade Rehydration Drink (ORS):
1 liter clean water
6 level teaspoons sugar
½ teaspoon salt
→ Stir well and sip slowly. This helps replace lost fluids and salts.

Thise is easier on the stomach and may help you recover faster. Rest as much as possible, keep warm (a hot water bottle on your stomach), and be patient with your body — it needs time to heal.

I hope you’ll feel much better very soon. Sending you a big gentle hug and all my best wishes. 💛

I am very sorry you are sick and as sorry you had doubts you can afford medical help.
That is sad.
Here it´s not a matter of "money" as you have to have insurance but we have not enough doctors. So the money is kinda wasted...
I wish you all the best to get well soon and chapeau for still hosting, dear Elizabeth!

How awful, and double awful that you have to pay so much for medical attention (which in this case was worthless).
I totally second what Traude Rostrose says. That is good advice. All of it. Keep hydrated! Try broth as milk sometimes makes the stomach worse. Or something acid, as most 'bugs' don't like that and stop thriving.
Get well soon.

I'm so sorry to read, that you are still sick and you have to worry about if you can afford healthcare or not. This is so wrong. Hope you get better soon!

This is awful Elizabeth-sorry you did not get good care at the emergency room If you can drink water you probably need to stay hydrated and water helps a lot to flush things through hugs

I had scheduled my post and assumed it was posted but it hadn't. Sorry I'm late.

So sorry to hear you are still not feeling well. I'm also sad about your experience at Urgent Care. Rostrose had some good advice. Rest up, feel better soon, and don't worry about making the Internet rounds. We'll still be here when you're feeling better.

I'm sorry to hear you are ill Elizabeth... Hubby was so SO sick back in June... Coming out both ends so to speak... He ended up so dehydrated that he ended up in the ER... They gave him some anti nausea meds and at least that stopped or slowed down one end... so to speak... But man it was awful... I'd never seen him so sick... He lost like 20 pounds.... But same as you the ER was useless.... Thank goodness in our case the VA pays for it.. Hope you feel better... you MUST stay hydrated otherwise it puts a strain on all your other organs... Even if you also are putting it out 'both ends' you MUST put it back in! Big Hugs! deb

That sounds awful! Yes--stay hydrated and I hope whatever it is will be over with soon. Hopefully what they gave you will be much more effective than PeptoBismol. One can hope!

I am very sorry too, that you still feel or are ill. And to wish you a happy T-day is not the best idea yet. I wish you a fast recovery of your heathy problems. As I am no doctor I cannot give you a proper advice what to do exactly.
My best wishes for you

Elizabeth, I am so sorry that you have been so sick for so long. I am hoping that you now recover quickly, no thanks to ER. Oh, and yes, I have heard dairy is bad for stomach issues. I remember doctors always took our babies off milk for 24 hours after last stomach issue. And, you would think tea would be good for stomach issues, especially herbal. Hugs

I use Pepto like it is candy. LOL However, I use the walmart brand. It has the same ingredients and much cheaper. So sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.
