This will be my final entry this month for Valerie's and Erika's theme at Art Journal Journey. It appears the only poet I am the least bit familiar with is Edgar Allen Poe. Although mainly known for his short stories, according to Poetry Foundation, his true love was poetry, especially romantic poems. He often emulated the English romantic poets such as Lord Byron, John Keats, and Percy Shelley.
This is the last known poem created by Edgar Allen Poe. According to Poetry Foundation, many scholars believe he wrote this for his wife who died two years before he wrote the poem.
Also, again according to the Poetry Foundation, unlike The Raven, who the narrator believed would never see his love again, Annabel Lee will be his true love forever. He even lays at her grave every night.
This is my interpretation of Annabel Lee. And because she has a face, I'm also joining Nicole's Friday Face Off.
I want to apologized to all those I haven't visited. I had NO IDEA how devastating this condition (Lupus) I have could be. I will make every effort possible to visit each person at Friday Face Off this week, even if it takes me all weekend to do so.
Is anyone else making ICADs (Index Card A Day) this year? This will be my 12th year. I'm a glutton for punishment and will be sharing them on my blog, since I'm not on any other social media site. If you are creating them, please let me know and I will visit your blog.

...you are more knowledgeable than I am!
Poe was a favorite with teachers in my school days, and I remember reading this one in class at some point. Poe’s biography, which we learned along with the poetry, really was tragic, though I think they downplayed his drinking problem. I still appreciate his verses.
best, mae
I am so sorry you are struggling. Concentrate on yourself and your healing. We will happily wait.
Poems are not really my thing...
I hope you get better very, very soon, dear Elizabeth.
Edgar Allen Poe was a bit of a troubled soul, but he did write great poetry. And stories. I liked how this month I discovered so many new poets, but poetry is definitely an acquired taste. I hope you had a great month, and although this sounds weird, you'll know what I mean. It's now going at 2 AM to be 6AM. hugs-Erika
Lovely page!
Lupus can be a devasting disease. So sorry you are dealing with it.
I know I'll never keep up but I am going to try ICAD for the first time this year. I am also only a blogger, plus only blog once a week--lol! I'll be posting as many as I can get to. ;)
I am so sorry for your health issues.
You take good care.
It is a lovely poem.
Thanks for this final entry, much appreciated!
I learned Poe's poems before his short stories.
I had a neighbor once who had lupus, and I know how devastating it was for her. I hope your doctors are able to help you manage it 🫂
I'm so sad you have to experience these issues with your Lupus. Hang in there.
Argh! I have bad internet connections right now! I'm so sorry that you are dealing with lupus, Elizabeth! It is a miserable disease! I hadn't read this Edgar Allen Poe poem before (that I can remember), and I enjoyed it. I love the English romantic poets. Please take care of yourself. You don't have to visit me, if you're not up to it. Feel better! Hugs to you!
I am so sorry to read you are dealing with health issues in regard to your Lupus. Hoping you feel better soon.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
