Stretch and Never Forget

Let us never forget.  The United States and countries around the globe will pause today to remember the tragic events of September 11.  The 22nd anniversary commemorations of the terror attacks that killed almost 3000 individuals will occur in New York City, Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Flowers are placed on the names of victims of the 9/11 terror attack in the North Tower Memorial Pool during the annual 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony at the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum on September 11, 2022 in New York City.    Flowers and a flag are placed next to the names of victims of the 9/11 terror attack that hit the north tower, while

To somewhat lighten the somber mood, I have another entry for Elle from Empire of the Cat, our host this month at Art Journal Journey Her theme is Books, Cats, and Tea. I am once again focusing on cats, because I have created this in my Cats altered book.

It's obvious I've named this spread Stretch.  I have a few detail shots, too.

This started as a calendar page and I added the elements on the left side of the spread.  Each of the two top and bottom elements was layered with beige, pale tan, and brown cardstock.  I used my deckle scissors to cut each color.  They were held together using three tiny gold metal prong fasteners.  The middle element was beige and pale tan, which were held together using one gold prong fastener in each corner and the word Stretch created in black sticker letters.

Bleubeard and I are delighted you joined us today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey as you share your own interpretation of Books, Cats, and Tea.

We should never, ever forget, just as the families of those lost CAN never forget.
Love that stretching cat and would love to be as flexible as they are.

Great cat stretching image, nothing like stretching and sharpening your claws at the same time. Thanks for joining me for the Books, Cats & Tea September theme at Art Journal Journey this month. Happy Journalling! Elle xx

It is a sad day in US history, but I am glad you lightened the mood with this fun page. I guess it doesn't matter where you are when you need to stretch, or in many cases, sleep too. Happy new week. hugs-Erika

I had my yearly "appraisal" yesterday and said, this is still a weird date to me.
I was in the office at my customer, Volkswagen, back then.
No TVs, just PCs and all we got was the landing page of CNN, which was "dead".
My colleague had family in New York, as did our secretary in Braunschweig. Panic mode, no info available.
A very sunny, warm day.
Ingo lived in Rhüden back then, worked for a company that sold TVs and had the news on.
Customers thought an action movie is playing.

I have never been in your country (yet!), but this day...
I will think of it when we fly to Perth as ever since flying is weird. You have to strip off everything, no water etc, etc, thanks to those sick weirdos.

In our neighborhood - two houses to the right, "those" live here. Proud, too.

One just wants to stretch and think all is OK and normal. But it never will be.

No, I too will never forget how I witnessed this in front of the television and called my children and we watched and listened in horror.

Your journal page with the cat is so cute, the way it can stretch is great!
Have a good day, hug Elke
