I'm once again joining my dear friend Chris, our host this month at Art Journal Journey, with her Where in the World theme.
Today we are headed to Paris, France, a favorite of Chris's.
I've included a few Fleur-de-lis, too. The Fleur-de-lis, translated from French as Lily Flower, is depicted on the
traditional coat of arms of France. It was used until the French Revolution in 1792.
The Parisian man has a face, which means I will be able to join Nicole and her Friday Face Off later tonight. And because I have multiple media, I am also joining Creative Artiste's 96th challenge, where the theme is always Anything Goes as long as there are a minimum of three mediums present. I have a ton I used on this journal page. 
I started by spritzing several of my shimmering mists on 110 lb. cardstock. I got a bit carried away with the gold acrylic paint. Next, I stenciled a borrowed Fleur-de-lis to the page using black dye ink. I created the postcard sized focal entry separately. It is nearly the same as one I created for a swap I hosted years ago. I recreated this because I always try to do my best work when I participate in a swap.
The background started with various paint colors, to which I added the gold outline around the edges of the 140 lb. watercolor paper using a gold leafing pen. I'm not very good at stamping, but I stamped the words, the Parisian images, and also the Fleur-de-lis. Next I added the man with the flowers. I then added the little silk flowers and added a tiny bead in the center of each. There were supposed to be five silk flowers, but I dropped one and finally gave up hunting for it.

Lovely piece, I still have a fleur de lis book mark I got on my first school trip to Paris in the 1960s. I used to love stamping, but it's not easy with my shakes - it makes the images rather blurry, so I have just given up! Pity! Hope you are doing well, hugs!

This has a wonderful French energy, Elizabeth. I love the colors and the graphic is terrific. The fleur de lis is a nice touch and great anchor for the page.

Your image of a man is surprising.I’ve never seen anyone dressed like that in France, not even in a movie. Is he from a special fiction book? An advertisement? Interesting.

I am so pleased to see you have done some stamping (Fleur de Lis) on your page. Love the background colours, they look so good in that splattered effect and work so well with the central picture.

I just love your postcard -- so beautifully designed! And the photo of the French sailor reminded me of a joke I learned many years ago while in French Immersion about mixing up the words "matelot" (sailor) and "matelas" (mattress). The gist was "I didn't get a wink of sleep last night because my mattress was too hard." Well, you can figure it out.

I love this piece, Elizabeth! I didn't realize that the Fleur-de-lis wasn't used after the French Revolution. Whenever I see it, I think of France. Debra's joke about the French sailor is really funny. You have to watch out for sailors everywhere, especially if they're bringing a bouquet of flowers! Happy weekend to you!

Super page Elizabeth, I too did not realise about the Fleur de Lys.. it's always reminded me of France especially Paris. The sailor is a grand focal on the page and do not put yourself down regarding your stamping, you did a grand job.
So nice to see your work @ Creative Artiste, thank you for sharing with the team and so sorry I'm late to visit my care duties give me next to no free time for creativity but I'm glad I managed to visit you today.
