Homage to the Lantern Festival

Today I am joining Erika, who some of you know as BioArtGal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  She wants us to use the color red in our art this month.

I call this Homage to the Lantern Festival, but it could just as easily be called Thankful for Cindy McMath.  Cindy was responsible for sending the Lanterns, which are German scrap.

I also removed the old postage stamp from one of her cards she sent, which is an animal from a previous year.

Homage to the Lantern Festival which is tomorrow, February 5, 2023.

For the background, I mixed a Staz-on reinker with 91% isopropyl alcohol, then spread it on the 110 lb cardstock using a makeup sponge.  I layered a piece of handmade paper (made by me) over which I added a piece of vintage sheet music I colored using a marker.  The final element was the postage stamp.  I computer generated the words and date.

Bleubeard and I are thrilled you joined us and hope to see you soon at Art Journal Journey with your own take on the color Red.

I love the colors and how you put it together!
Laterns per se, though... a horror for me.
I am so old back in the day we had real candles and you could just bet one kid on a march with laterns will bump into another and there is real fire! And me running off, screaming, which led to... you can guess.... there were always two kindy-guards for a reason! ;-)

Those gold lanterns are amazing. Other than when you shared them, I've never seen that pattern of gold scrap before. I like them. And that is a cool postage stamp. Together with your background and the red paper it does make a very cool page. Your page is much appreciated. It's perfect for Seeing Red. Have a nice Saturday. With windchill we are at -32 today. I am practically dressed for outside even with the woodstove going. Smile. hugs-Erika

I love that horse on the stamp. What a beautiful image kit is, just imagine that in a rubber stamp - it would be fabulous to use.
Thanks for your lantern page, I really enjoyed seeing it - I love all things to do with China and the Chinese people.
Hugs, Neet xx
