Veterans Day

 Duty.  Honor.  Country.

Today is the day we honor our veterans, both living and deceased.  The date and time are significant, because it is the day and time "the war to end all wars (WWI)" came to an end.

Bleubeard and I are honoring veterans today.  We are also hosting Art Journal Journey with our themes Collage Fodder, Food and Drink, or both.  Today it is all about the collage fodder.

Veterans Day is always on November 11.  Some of my friends across the pond celebrate Remembrance Sunday, which is November 13 this year.

I used a bit too much white paint and covered over the soldier who is saluting.   Not sure anyone else can see it, but I can.

All soldiers, whether living or deceased are honored today.

This celebration takes place on this date every year at 11:00 a.m., signifying the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that marked the end of WWI in 1918.

My collage is made primarily of dark green and purple scraps.

The scrapbook papers were so dark, I tried to lighten them a bit by first applying a lime green Pan Pastel, over which I added the white paint.  Some of the paint turned a magical green.

I started this page with some green and purple collage scraps.  After adding the Pan Pastel, the two images, and white paint, I added the dates and time.  I circled everything using a purple paint pen.  I had some gold paint left over from another project, so I added it to the page edges.

Bleubeard and I are extremely grateful you visited today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Collage Fodder, Food and Drink, or both.

And because there is a face on the page, we are also sharing this with Nicole's Friday Face Off.

  We are also joining AEDM.

It is... I wonder how the world would be if only women ruled.
I think they would be "man enough" to go directly at each other and not force others to fight for them

Today... starts carnival season, at 11:11 a.m.
We live in a crazy world.

Sad work, but well done.

There were services of Remembrance all over the UK today and many of us observe 2 minutes silence at the eleventh hour. There are also Remembrance services on Sunday when poppy wreaths are laid at cenotaphs a over the country. I hope that this tradition continues, its important that we should honour or services Hugs, Chrisx

A lovely piece.
It is so important to remember those who gave their lives during the first and second world wars and continuing conflicts. Here in the UK many of us observed the two-minute silence and of course this Sunday is Remembrance Day.

Enjoy your weekend.

All the best Jan

Some people forget instead of remembering, and we have so many wars going on today, and so many people still dying because of the warmongers. Hugs, Valerie

That ending of that war was supposed to end all wars, but look where we are today. A country being ravaged by a dictator who is without morals or shame. Your collage depicts that well and yes, I do agree that every Soldier and every Veteran deserves the recognition of what they have done and they deserve more than what we do for them. My heart goes out to every one of them ...
