The sky is falling

 

 Look out!  Look up!  The sky is falling.

While digging through my stash of napkins, I found this one with geese.  I immediately knew what I was going to create for my penultimate entry at Art Journal Journey, where Elle from Empire of the Cat, is our host with the theme  Fairytales, Folklore, and Fables - Tell Me A Story.  My story is a bit more convoluted than the original.

This is supposed to be about a hen whose name is Henny Penny.  She was also known as Chicken Little in the states.

However, in my story, Henny Penny has been replaced with the cock. That is because I couldn't find the chicken I thought I had, so had to go with a rooster instead.

The rooster is busy chatting with the geese and gosling,

and didn't notice he had stepped under an oak tree.

 

That was when an acorn hit him on the top of his head and he thought the sky was falling.

This folk tale is generally attributed to the Brothers Grimm.  It is a tale of mass hysteria, something we in the states know a bit about.

I created this page by first painting a sheet of 110 lb cardstock with watercolors.  When dry (and rippled), I adhered the napkins using a glue stick.  I then added the rooster, which was originally a playing card I fussy cut.
