Monday Murals: The saddest day ever

This is the saddest day.  It is an end of a tradition.  According to the Avenue Art Days (AAD) site, this year's SINGLE mural will be its last.

Per their site:

**BIG Changes & News for 2022**

Eight years and 107 murals later, we are announcing that this year’s Avenue Art Days installation will be our eighth and final.

As murals throughout our community continue to grow in number and popularity, the AAD mission to establish street art as more than just graffiti and providing artists opportunities for public art, all while creating a walkable attractive destination of the DDD (Douglas Design District), has not only been met but exceeded!

This year’s final installation will feature a single, large-scale legacy mural, inviting all artists and volunteers who have participated in years past, to contribute to the 2022 legacy piece.

One winning artist submission, will be selected by our AAD committee, and that artist will be awarded a $4000 stipend to lead the team of past AAD artists and friends during the weekend of August 25, 2022 in the installation of their winning design to be located on the entirety of the West facing wall of Moler’s Camera.

Today, however, we are paying tribute to Wichita.

I was shooting facing into the sun, which was not a good idea.  After all, this mural is called Colorblind Sunset.

This mural was created by Slim Brady whose work I have shown before.  It was installed in 2021.

Although I am not fond of graffiti art, this is one word I can actually read.  And who doesn't love a lovely bird, flowers, and wheat seen in the setting sun?  This mural can be found at 123 South Hillside in Wichita, Kansas (USA).

If you enjoy murals from around the world, please don't forget to visit Monday Murals at Sami's Colourful World.  Thanks for stopping by this weekend. Bleubeard and I are delighted you could join us.

...shooting into the sun is never an easy task, overcast days can be good days. I like Wichita in the graffiti style script.

This graffiti style mural is quite nice and the words are readable as you say.
What a pity this mural program is coming to an end, but 107 murals is quite an achievement.
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Elizabeth.

I didn't realize so many of your wonderful murals were part of a citywide art effort. You've had some fabulous ones. I'm sorry the program is ending and so glad you have shared them with us.

Beautiful. Amazing the number of murals that were created. Too bad the program couldn't expand to other areas of the city.
