Friday Smiles 486 and Nicole's Friday Face-Off

It's Friday and time to join Friday Smiles which is hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time).   Let's visit her and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday.    And while we're at it, we can also visit Nicole's Friday Face Off.

For once I have something to really smile about.

My Naked Ladies/Surprise Lilies are blooming in my flower bed.

Not as many as last year, but a few considering how dry it has been.  And I don't water this area at all.

The reason I kept this photo is so my friend  Chris can get an idea how really big my mailbox is.

The pink in the Naked Ladies/Surprise Lilies goes nicely with the pink

in my Rose of Sharon transplants.

They certainly seem to be doing well despite the drought. Very smile worthy.

Another thing to smile about is my new television.

Now I can not only get tv stations, I can get the internet on this if I choose.  But the very best part is, my friend Scott ordered it for me, instead of me going to Best Buy or Office Depot to buy it.  OK, that is STILL not the best part.

The best part is, he set it up so I can use his PRIME TV account.  He knows I won't buy anything on the internet, so he doesn't have to worry I'll use his card to buy a movie or a new jar of facial cream (grin).  When we looked around, instead of asking him to order a month of Acorn TV, we found 20 seasons of Midsomer Murders on Prime from a site called Freevee.  I am dancing in the streets and hope to watch a few in the not too distant future.

Some of you saw my early Sunday post that I was part of the crowd that cleaned up our neighborhood.  This is where I am joining Nicole's Friday Face Off.  Since I had forgotten my camera, after I helped add my trash to the packer truck, I ran home and took these few shots before rejoining my neighbors.

I was mesmerized watching the screen get crushed by the packer.  The man in neon green on the right side of the photo was the packer driver.  He was super sweet and very helpful.  I have been doing this for years and many packer drivers don't believe in helping, just driving and crushing the trash.

Some of you may know this.  I used to be the co-chair of the clean-up committee

[Cleanup-12.jpg]  with my friend Bill Reaser.  We nick named him King of the Tires.

[Cleanup-25.jpg] It was always my job to ride in one of the packer trucks and lay out the route for the driver.  What takes up all the room in the packer trucks are couches, mattresses, and kitchen stoves, all of which we saw more than a few yesterday.  The committee seems to run it differently now, with the driver having the route he was to take printed out for him and no association member in the truck.

I was going to show you my very clean and tidy Rubbermaid 7 foot square (213.36 cm square) gray storage shed, but I believe I have taken enough time today and will save the reveal for next week.

Thanks for visiting and spending a bit of time with Bleubeard and me this Friday.  Now PLEASE visit Annie and Nicole.  Please don't forget to start your weekend with a smile.

Here's a bit of humor to get you in the mood for the shed reveal.

FBI Investigation.

The phone rings at the FBI headquarters.
"Hello? I'm calling to report my neighbor, Clifford. He is hiding marijuana inside his firewood!"
"Thank you very much for the call, Sir."
The next day, FBI agents descend on the neighbor's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes they bust open every piece of wood, but finds no marijuana. They swear at the neighbors and leave. The phone rings at the neighbors house.
"Hey Clifford, did the FBI come?"
"Yep"
"Did they chop the wood?"
"Yep"
"Great, now it's your turn to call. I need my garden plowed."

What did the philanderer say to the gardener praying in the shed?

How do you stay faithful in a room full of hoes?

Once John went to the market and bought a hen..

He kept it in the shed.
But the hen was stubborn and escaped from the back door.
John caught it and kept it in the shed again.
But the hen was stubborn and escaped from the back door.
John once again caught it and kept it in the shed.
But the hen was stubborn and escaped from the back door.
John now caught it, killed it, cooked it and ate it.
But the hen was stubborn ....

Opened up the shed today and realized my handsaw needed tuning

It was a bit sharp.

Yay to the flowers, wow on the TV. You would laugh (or cry) if you saw mine!
But I like it the way it is, so all good.
And yay for trust!!!
Helping is always good. What did the others do, sitting and waiting, how boring!
The shed seems sad it has to wait ;-)

Wish we had (wood, oven) and FBI. And good neighbours (we have two).
Eww to the hen, LOL!

I’ve not heard of that flower before but it’s so pretty....I may have to search it out. Well done you with the new telly. Have a great week.

Fun post, Elizabeth! Glad you got a new TV. I have fcire Tv, too and it gives a lot of possibilities for watching and finding new things. Good idea to share prime, I share with my neighbours and that reduces the costs.
Love the funnies! Wonder what I could do to get my place cleaned.... Hugs, Valerie

I'm still giggling from your funnies. But let me be serious and write something to comment on your post.
First of all the great news is the TV and the wonderful Scott, who clearly loves you very much. He trusts you too. What a guy! And then to find 20 seasons of Midsummer murders! That is great! I love those too. I saw all of them back in the day on normal tv. The village is based on a village near to where I used to live called Midsummer Norton. Of course the fictional Midsummer is prettier. And it must have a lot of inhabitants as one gets killed every week! There can't be many left.
It's so good to see the clean-up in your neighborhood. It is a fantastic initiative.
A new shed? Or is it just cleaned? Anyway, I look forward to see what you do with that.
Your 'naked ladies' are so pretty. And now I see why they are called that...
Have a lovely weekend,
Keep smiling,
Hugs,
Lisca

Your lilies are so pretty. I have not heard of 'naked ladies' but it is a very apt name.
The neighbourhood clean-up is a great initiative. So well done to yu for getting involved with the organisation of it.
Enjoy your new TV. I smiled at your excitement over the Midsommer Murders. I think I have watched them all. We always say we are glad we don't live in that village, Your chances of survival must be pretty low with new deaths every episode!
Thank you for the smiles. Kate x

Hurrah for pretty flowers. Yours look great. Mine are looking more like September than August. It's that dry weather here too. And hurrah the TV came. That is exciting. I imagine you are enjoying it. And using Prime too. And I've never ridden in a packer truck, but that must have been fun. I bet people got rid of lots of things. I could use a packer truck to come to my house too. Smile. Have a great FRiday my dear. hugs-Erika

Yay for the Lillies blooming. I love flowers.

Also, yay for the TV. I have been considering a Roku TV to replace mine. However, I can't find just what I want, yet. I am sure you will enjoy it. There are some other free channels that you may want to get added to it.

Loving the lilies they are so pretty.I've just got back from the hairdressers and before that walking dogs so now I'm on catch up. You are so going to love the new TV and Midsomer Murders who doesn't love it. Whenever I can't find anything else that's the program I go too. It's always on though I also like Death in Paradise too. You certainly seem to have been busy this week. I'm with you on the shed therapy and look forward to seeing the reveal. Of course the funnies were good as usual and I must remember the FBI one, very clever idea. Have alovely Friday and a great weekend and that goes for the kitties too. Hugs, Angela xXx

the naked ladies are very pretty. Very cool TV. Lots of free sites to watch stuff: Tubi, Pluto. Enjoy. Your neighborhood cleanup reminds me I need to get back into the basement. Have fun watching Midsomer!

How wonderful that the naked ladies are blooming! I saw them at the cemetery as well where they don't get any water (and we have a super drought here),but at least they have shade from the old trees - they seem to like that and it cools down a bit. I like the little white trellis-thing (?) you have in your garden (it looks like the headboard of a doll bed...). Great that you do a neighborhood clean-up and that the truck driver was so nice and helpful. I like that attitude - it just makes life a little bit easier. Have a great weekend with Bleubeard!

This is a wonderful post. I am thrilled you have a new TV. If you have prime then you also have many TV streaming options. Freevee is just one. You also can down load the Roku channel, Crackle, Pluto, Filmrise, Tubi, Plex, Peacock and more. Just go to the APP store on your prime account. Then Prime has sales on the Prime channels. Never HBO though. Have fun with this. I love that your garden is blooming and all the wonderful photos of the clean up. I wish they would do something like that here. I enjoyed your post so very much. Have a great weekend.

Elizabeth the apps are on the Prime TV. You do not need a cell phone.

Three cheers on your Fire. And freevee! I adore Midsomer Murders, one of my favorites. I've seen all 24 or 25 seasons and some over and over! You'll have loads of free TV stuff available. I'm cutting cable and adding a few streaming services to my list. Don't forget Kanopy -- loads of free, commercial-free movies with your library card!

Those soft pink lillies are so beautiful in your garden! So wonderful to get a new TV too and be able to watch the series, that's so kind of Scott 😊. Enjoy and sending you happy wishes! Hugs Jo x

Surprise lilies are always fun to see. I'm glad your Rose of Sharons (Roses of Sharon?) are doing so well. We enjoy Prime, and Freevee offers a lot. I don't mind the commercials, since I grew up thinking that's how TV works ;)

Indeed ... it`s very hot and dry. We had two days rain at last. But it`s not enough.

Have a good week.

I googled the flower. It is a real beauty. So, congrats for having one :)

Congrats on the new TV and for getting added to Scott's Prime account. I don't think we can do that here, anyway, there is a LOT of freevee without needing to be a prime member. I no longer have Prime and I can still watch Freevee as a regular amazon customer. We need that kind of neighbourhood clean up here!

Your flowers look like they're doing well. Everything in my yard is almost dead from lack of rain in weeks. Your friend Scott is very nice. I love Midsomer Murders. The series is also available free (with commercials) on TubiTV. If your TV is connected to the Internet, you can watch it that way, too. (Or use a Roku: but you have to do a one time purchase of a Roku box. And all it is doing is re-streaming the Internet from websites like TubiTV, etc. So if you can do a direct Internet line connection to your TV, you don't need a Roku.)
