Welcome to the neighborhood

Today we start a new theme with a new host.  Our host this month is Wendy K.  You will find her at Wendy's Craft Journal.  Wendy's theme is Doors and Arches.  I suspect we'll see a lot of those this month.

Welcome to the neighborhood.  It's nice when we get new neighbors, especially if they have an open door policy like this new owner has.

We want to welcome you to the neighborhood.  We want you to feel at home here.

Lovely landscaping and curb appeal.

Before I forget,

Here's the key to your front door.

I layered green 140 lb. cardstock on top of black 140 lb. cardstock.  I then sewed the green to the black cardstock.  I sewed a home that was part of a postcard weight pamphlet on exterior paint to the background using variegated thread.  I then sewed a key and holder from my stash to the background.  Finally, I computer generated the words which I also sewed in place using the same variegated thread.

Wendy, Chris, Erika, Yvonne, Bleubeard, and I are delighted you joined us and hope to see you this month at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Doors and Arches.  Valerie is taking a break this month.

We welcome art journal pages that meet the theme requirements, altered book pages, canvases, loose or stand alone pages including fabric and digital art.  We do not allow cards, tags, index cards, ATCs, or ATCoins, unless they are part of a journal page, and as much as we don't want to, will be forced to delete your entry.  Please remember if your blog is not in English, you must either provide a translation tool or translate it for us.  Hope to see you at Art Journal Journey soon.

Well I would certainly go through the door to that house, it looks a little bit like some in the UK. Great idea for my theme. Hugs Wendy.

I once left my car at a farmer in France (199...something) and really, we came back at night, the door was open, as promised, and my car keys hung right there.
I put a pressie on the table and we left.
To open doors!

That's a great idea for Wendy's AJJ challenge. When I pass certain houses I always wonder what they are like inside, and this house does make me think that. Perhaps I will take the key and sneak in to check it out. It's a very timely page because here in NH we have so many people buying homes and moving in from Mass., Connecticut and NY (as well as other laces) that the prices have skyrocketed. For awhile during the height of the pandemic people were buying them just from the internet, and they could pay out of state prices for them. (These are people who can work remotely.) The market is crazy, and I know it is tough for people who want to be first time buyers because most everything has gone beyond their price ranges. Anyhow, enough about that. This is a great entry and I like it a lot. Have a great July 1.. hugs-Erika

In San Diego, California, and a few other California places, the houses have amazing entrance-ways with gates and doors that are really special. When I was there, I constantly took photos-- one example:

I like your theme a lot.

A lovely home and I like the key. My doors are always locked after an incident where a strange woman walked into the living room where my girlies were going to stay up late and have their own slumber party. I was working in the studio when the Eldest came to tell me this woman was in the house. I ran upstairs to find her walking towards the bedrooms. I immediately escorted her out.

What a wonderful page you created, Elizabeth! I love photo of the beautiful home and the stitching, too. But what I LOVE most is the real key!! That is so creative and fun! Your page makes me want to look inside and see the rest of the neighborhood from it's windows!!!!

Thank looks a wonderful area to live in and very welcoming. not sure I would leave a key for folk to find but they would get a welcome when they knocked.
Its a fabulous page and I loved the key and how you stitched those pieces together.

Like the house and the key - very fun page, Elizabeth. This does look like an inviting doorway. This housing market is totall ridiculous. When that happens something bad always happens so every day I wake up and wonder if this is going to be the day when we discover another black swan (thought the same with the last housing crisis at least 3 years before it it).

Now inquiring minds want to know where the key came from....lol.

What a beautiful house your key belongs to. Of course, you know how much I love your stitching and these are great colour choices. My parents used to leave the door open quite a lot way back in the 1950s. Hugs, Chrisx

A beautiful page Elizabeth! I love the house, and the stitching.
It would be wonderful to live in a world where we could leave our doors unlocked.
Happy weekend,
Alison
