Purpose

Welcome.  Bleubeard and I are thrilled you dropped by because we are once again sharing our theme at Art Journal Journey which is What's Your Style.

I named this Purpose because this spread looked like it had a purpose.  I also posted this on Friday so my Friday Smiles friends, especially Angela, could see what I did with these 1 inch (25,4 cm) squares of which I was gifted.

Angela stated she bought some of these squares for her scrapbooking ventures, but never found a way to use them.

They make excellent backgrounds for your mixed media, journal pages, and altered art. Because the background is so colorful, you don't need a lot in the foreground.

I'll leave you with a few close up photos.

I started by gluing each tiny square to a sheet of 110 lb. cardstock.  Once dry, which took overnight because of the wet glue I used, I computer generated the word and hand cut the leaves.  I even surprised myself, because I can't draw, but these leafy stems sort of cut themselves under my fussy cut scissors.  With this incredible background, you don't need much else to turn this into a nice journal page.

Bleubeard reminded me that I have been lax in mentioning we are guest hosting Art Journal Journey this month.

Having done so, we are delighted you chose to join us today and hope to also see you at Art Journal Journey where we're celebrating What's Your Style.   It's obvious today my style was all about the background.

Your page makes a beautiful quilt

The subtle colors remind me of a quilt, too. I always like the way quilters piece together squares that were not necessarily designed to harmonize, but they do.

Look you might not be joining in at Annie's today but you can't stop me spying on what you're up to Lol! I am loving how you've used the squares and I think I need to get mine out and use them so we'll see. Thanks for the inspiration. Sending big hugs and wishing you a lovely weekend. Big hugs, Angela xxx

I think purpose is a great title for this page, but it does look like you an idea in mind when you pasted all these squares together. I like the look, and the simple white branches too. It looks like you've snipped off an end of a quilt. This is perfect for AJJ. You are really rocking and rolling this month. I hope you have a great Friday and start to your weekend. Hugs-Erika

What a great art page Elizabeth ! I love the tittle purpose for the page, effectively, the squares are purposes we have to realize, to do, always with ambition, full of colours, happy of course. Well, impossible to explain what I feel, jaja..but happiness for sure.
I wish you a very nice weekend, and send big hugs

This took me back to when I was a child and mum used to sew patchwork quilts to pad out the money.
It must have taken a fair bit of time to line the squares up and stick them down without the corners lifting. A great spread Elizabeth. I am sure Bleubeard helped with this.

This is such a pretty paper quilt, Elizabeth -- and I really love the colors. They make me think of spring, which seems so far off. Doing that is so meditative. This is really lovely.

I love how you collaged all the small squares for this page, it must have taken quite a while to place them and those white branches looked beautiful and drew the eye to the background. Fabulous inspiration for your AJJ theme.

This is a wonderful page Elizabeth-the white stems looks great against those beautiful colours! Once again Blogger stopped me from commenting - this time on your England page! I love the places you chose, sadly all in the South, there are also some lovely places up North!!! :-) Hugs, Chrisx
