Nature Unleashed

Today I'm turning the journal page over to Bleubeard.  He enjoys nature more than I.  After all, he was born in a barn, and up until two years ago, wanted to be outside as much as he wanted to be inside.  I think his age and the fact he wants to keep an eye on Squiggles has changed his attitude about going out.

However, he was happier than a cat on nip to be in charge of this spread.

Here are a few detail shots that Bleubeard asked me to take.

The first thing Bleubeard did was select the background I had just painted using watercolors on 110 lb cardstock.  He then rummaged through my dried leaves and flowers to find the perfect arrangement.  Afraid to get glue on his beautiful grey paws, he allowed me to glue leaves and flowers in place, while he added the stems he stuck down with used painter's tape.  When the arrangement was to his satisfaction, he asked me to write the sentiment on the page using a gel pen.  All leaves and flowers were found in my yard, then pressed under a heavy book for many weeks and months.

Bleubeard is overjoyed that he was able to both host and create this spread today for Art Journal Journey.  Our theme is What's Your Style? and today it is all about nature.

"... a cat on nip"... LOL!
Bleubeard - you did a great job (kinda reminds me of the movie Ratatouille :-)...)
Unleashed is always good, clever piece! Love the background, too.

The variety of shapes and sizes of leaves is always amazing. I used to try to dry the most beautifully colored fall leaves, but they always faded.

You've made me wish I'd kept my leaf collection from college as it was probably art. I never thought of it that way, but you have proven that it can be art. Nice page today. The shapes of leaves are pretty interesting, aren't they? I like how you used some blue tape but not all blue tape. Hope you didn't get horrible weather in the storm. We had lots of rain, but not it is getting pretty cold again, so between yesterday's ice melt and rain and now cold we'll be back in the ice. What a winter. Have a great end of your week. Hugs-Erika

I love this. I have a huge fondness for herbariums and one page spreads. I have an herbarium that my father made from 1946. It is amazing how long the plant material will last! I love your background colors and the blue tape (I bet that was Bleubeard's choice). I have some leaves I pressed this year that I'm just waiting for the inspiration to use. Thank you for such a pretty page to look at!

What a clever boy he is. I wonder if he will train Squiggles to be so artistic. I've been using a few natural objects for my resin projects this week. It certainly takes time to get everything dried out. I am sending big hugs to you and the kitties. Stay safe and have a lovely weekend. Hugs Angela xXx

I can see that Bleubeard has learned quite a lot from living in the same home as an artist!
