My visit to England

If you have been around my blog for any length of time at all, you know I am geography challenged.  That's why I hosted the 7 Continents tip-ins swap a few years ago.  I continue to virtually visit countries around the world in order to learn more about them.  Neither Bleubeard nor I are able to travel at the moment.  However, once this pandemic is over, I would really like to visit other countries.

With that in mind, I want to remind you that Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month.  Our theme is What's Your Style?

A few of the places I "visited" virtually while in England.

These are places I actually want to visit if I ever get across the pond.  At the top of my list is London.  That's where Big Ben and Parliament are located.  I want to see both.

I want to visit the countryside, where the architecture is far different from where I live.

Of course Stonehenge is high on my list, too.

It would be great to visit there on the solstice, but I would gladly go anytime.

I have an internet friend I met while at Wichita State, back when the internet was tiny, only found on university campuses and at some large businesses, and was all about groups, rather than blogs and social networks.

He was also getting his doctorate and lived in Bath.  He made it sound so intriguing, I know that is another place I must visit. Therefore, I must visit the famous bath house in Bath.

I started this page by adding blue staz-on reinker to the 110 lb. cardstock.  When dry, I adhered gifted makeup powder to the page.  Once on the page, it didn't come off.  I didn't even need a spray fixative like I do with Pan Pastels.  I outlined all the images with the same brown dye ink I used for the London rubber stamp.  Note I stamped it upside down in several places, not realizing until I had completed the stamping.  Then I got the idea to grunge the page, so I added bits of the same dye ink to various parts of the page.  Not sure if I helped or hindered the finished page, but once on, the ink couldn't be removed.  All images were from various travel magazines.

Bleubeard and I are ready to visit England and we are glad you joined us.  We also hope to see you and your wonderful art at Art Journal Journey with our theme What's Your Style?

My mother was British and my brothers were born in England. I have never been and your journal page reminds me (again) of what I am missing.

I am sure that we are all longing for the day when we can begin to travel again. The last time I ventured outside Canada was in April 2019, and I miss not being able to do so. There are new bird families out there just waiting for me to pay them a visit!

Lovely journal page Elizabeth. Hoping you will be able to travel one day years ago after my father passed, my Mom and her friend took a major trip every year they went all over Europe and other places. I know she really enjoyed that-My father's side came over from England, and my Mom's side of the family came over from Germany-so they got to visit those places too. Happy weekend

It's tough to look at travel pages (for me) right now as I really want to get away. This has been a tough winter here in the Northeast. England would be wonderful right now, especially the sunny summery looking England in your photos Elizabeth. It's a great page. I hope you make it to Bath and those other places you want to go. I've been watching the Amazing Race on TV and they are in Corsica right now. Wow, it is gorgeous. I think it just moved up to one of the tops spots I want to visit. Anyhow, you love to do travel pages so this is definitely your style. Have a great Saturday. Hugs-Erika

Your pages is making me so wistful to travel to England. Plus at that point it would be a hop, skip, and a jump to visit Tiggy in Scotland.

My visits to London have all been much too short! I love the British Museum but always had to rush through. And they can’t even display large parts of their collections because they own so much historic and artistic material. It’s also hard to realize how huge the it’s is — getting from one plece to another can take an hour or more. I hope we can all travel soon!

A marvelous page Elizabeth! I really hope you get your wish, to travel across the pond to our little Island. I'm lucky enough to have seen all of these places, we live on the outskirts of London, and on the edge of town too, with lovely Kent countryside all around us. We've often passed Stonehenge on our way to the West Country, and stopped off a couple of times. And Bath is a really beautiful city too. Our daughter is buying a flat in Bristol, which is near to Bath.
Let's hope that travel will be easier for us all again soon.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Alison

Wouldn't it be something to see Stonehenge!
My traveling days are behind me but anyone can travel vicariously on YouTube and travel channels these days. :)

I wish you could visit England in person. It is my favorite place in all the world. The whole country is my favorite place. And you would love it all -- the history, the beauty. All of it.

Your page brings back many lovely memories, ones I hope to add to in 2022. Well, I can hope, can't I?

I hope your wish comes true to travel to England Elizabeth as there would be a chance we could finally meet. You've captured the beauty of England with it's rolling hills and countryside. Bath is indeed a treasure, lot's of historical places to visit on our tiny island. Hugs Tracey xx

The page is a delight with the distress look, the stamping and the great images of London, the countryside and Bath. I'd love to visit London-musuems, sights but also travel to the Cotswolds and and walk as they have many walking paths that connect the small towns. Bath would be on my list and so would Stonehenge as well as the chalk horse.

I loved seeing your fantastic page and the virtual visits you made to the UK. I think we take many things for granted in our own countries, I visited London many years ago and have no wish to go back. I am a northerner [Hadrian's Wall country] and love the open countryside.
Stay safe.
