I'm running late with this post because my day has been filled with much unwanted drama. You may be aware that Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month. Our theme is What's Your Style? However, I created this journal page because I wanted to join Try it on Tuesday and today is the final day to enter Their theme this fortnight is Add a quote. I thought I had an extra week, so this had to be put together quicker than I originally anticipated. I started this around 9 p.m. my time.
I realize it is actually called Black History Month, but I prefer Awareness, since we in the states should already know the history that was a stain on our nation for nearly a century.
I have tons of quotes, so I will let you peruse them. I apologize if I don't translate, but time is not on my side and my internet is working like it was stuck in the stone age tonight.
I began by gluing gifted pink and white tissue paper to 110 lb. cardstock. There was a piece missing in the middle, so I took a portion of the left over tissue and adhered it rotating the design 90 degrees giving the images something to stand on. While the glue was drying I computer generated the quotes, all by famous black artists, authors, poets, and activists. I selected all the black individuals I had in my two TH doll packets and adhered them to the page. Next, I added the sentiment created from stickers. Once they were on, I glued the quotes in place using a glue stick. My style today is paying homage to Black History Month.
Thank you ever so much for visiting today. Bleubeard and I
are delighted you joined us and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on What's your style? and at Try it on Tuesday's challenge which is Add a quote.

Beautiful journal spread, Elizabeth, so much to see and read. It's important to be aware of this history. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
PS Could you please link me to TsfT this evening? Thanks!
All things that need to be said. LOUDLY. OFTEN.
Thank you.
Wonderful page. So much history that we were not taught in school.
Unwanted drama doesn't sound good, we've had our fair share this year so hope yours is short lived!
Your page is so clever _ and thank you for saving me from getting a crick in my neck trying to read the quotes. Its a perfect entry for Try It On Tuesday and AJJ. It's a great shame that some of the older quotes are still relevant today! Hugs, Chrisx
Depressingly, we revisit the same issues over and over, and never really make progress. The stubbornness of racists in our society is profound and the only things that change are their pathetic excuses for propagating white privilege.

Ah, but we don't know the history, do we :( and they keep passing laws to keep us from teaching more and more of it. I'm seeing posts on FB describing all the things that were invented by Black people. Fascinating!
I'm hoping your drama has passed you by now.
Significant post. Thank You!
What an excellent journal page! I not only love the background you created but the people and those quotes! I love them. I love the art one, the one about ignorance and power, Malcolm X's quote and the turtle. hell, I love all of them.
That was a great idea to celebrate Black History month on your page. You always teach us so much about holidays, so this is really your style. Clever idea for certain. See you very soon for T day. Hugs-Erika
What a thought provoking journal page. Love the quotes. We have been watching PBS shows dedicated to this month and it saddens me so that SO much needs to be improved upon, and that there is still so much divide and hatred...
I love your pink period and it works especially well here -- the light colors, the powerful words and message. Well done. This is a gem.
Funny you! I sure had some gymnastics here, just to find you rotated the work for easier reading!
Can you believe how shocked I was working on the last document for Durban, South Africa.... it really said you need to hire "also 'Black' people". It mentioned this combo more than once. With "also", too!
I asked P. She knows who in Durban wrote this.
They really want it this way. I find it disrespectful, esp when all these things still happen in your country and after all Siemens stands behind this.
You certainly could argue this is awareness, but you could find better words in an official document like that.
I have one man I talked to there. He´s nice, intelligent and like really dark. No idea if I should brave up and ask him what he thinks about this, if he would prefer differently...
I got distracted and missed that you had linked the to TIOT until now. (never read posts while dinner is simmering I guess) Sorry for missing that, and I want to say thanks for joining us. hugs-Erika
A fabulous page Elizabeth, and you've used some powerful quotes and images.
Thanks for sharing with us at Try it on Tuesday.

Oh my, this is an awesome page and many powerful quotes to read, a part of our history in all countries that should never be hidden away.
Thank you for linking to the TioT's theme as well as another fantastic inspiration for your AJJ theme.
Stay safe.

A brilliant page with some wonderful quotes Elizabeth!
A great page with some very strong quotes - what a good idea to portray Black Awareness month with your own theme and that of another challenge.
Hugs, Neet xxx
