It's Thursday, which means it's time to join Rain's Thursday Art Date, which this week is Stripes. I'm not sure I have exact examples, but I will give it a try at least.
However, before we join Rain, I want to wish everyone in the states a very happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving. Today, more than any other holiday, is all about the food, loved ones, and food. No gift giving, no fancy decorating, no religious celebrations, just food and camaraderie.
Some of you start the day watching the Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade. After dinner, some will hover around the TV to watch football, while others will take an after dinner nap, especially if turkey was on your menu. There will be leftovers, leading to "snackers" and "grazers" who get their second wind late in the day. Did I not mention today is all about the food?
Some of you may invite friends to your home who have no one nearby in which to share the day. Some of you may travel to visit family. No matter how you celebrate it, make sure it's one in which you give thanks: thanks for your freedom, thanks for your health, and thanks for the bountiful food you have eaten and possibly shared.
Now let's join Rain.
They have a black area that starts at the top base of its beak and cover their forehead; it continues between the eyes up to the head, and it is distributed all over its back, flippers, tail and the upper part of the throat. C-shaped white stripes start at the base of their beak and join the white area in the bottom of the throat.
Their chest is white with a thick black horseshoe-shaped stripe that starts from the legs and goes upward to reach the top of the chest and then go back down to the other leg. They may have random black spots on their chest and belly, which are different from each other.
This may be pushing the stripes theme very, very far, but this is one of three coolers in my wonderful gaming computer.
My flag is always a good example of stripes.
All art was created by me, either for a swap, for my art journals, or in an altered book. The cooler photo was taken by my friend Scott as he was building the computer. Bleubeard remembers those pre-Squiggles days fondly.
Thank you beyond belief for stopping by. I am truly grateful to you, my dear friends, followers, readers, and lurkers for visiting. Please also join Bleubeard and me at Rain's Thursday Art Date. Don't forget to give thanks today, if you live in the states.
20 thoughtful remarks:
The first one is wonderful! Great techniques, too!
I can read your writing - at work I took quick notes and later had some trouble reading what I "wrote"...
The cat, sooo cute! Clever with the "stripey penguin".
I admit... the computer is nothing I would´ve expected - you´re into gaming?
What kind of games - if you like to share (I´ve never done this).
Love also your last one. The PC-place they could give me for those two days was one from a soccer fan - the German flag was on top of the lamp! Should´ve taken a picture, but unlike you, we are usually not proud of being German and the flag causes mixed feelings.
Lots of fun stripes Elizabeth. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and enjoy your food! Hugs, Valerie
LOVE your stripes - and a very, very Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate the day.
Just wanted to stop by and wish you HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I once knew an Italian fellow, who loved food - I mean loved food - and he always used to say, "Calories were made to be eaten not to be counted." If there's one day when that should be the mantra it's Thanksgiving! Eat, drink, be merry and get back to normal tomorrow!
Bravo. Some nice stripes.
Happy Thanksgiving
Much💛love
You're so right, dear Elizabeth. Today is definitely about showing and giving thanks, spending time with family, watching Dallas play football(lol), eating lots of goodies and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm super thankful to have you as a good friend in my life, and wishing you well. Hugs and more hugs, RO
Lots of birds have stripes — that is a good one. Last spring we spent a lot of effort to see a 5-stripe sparrow. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Lots of great art today. Have a lovely day.
Hugs Wendy.
All great examples of stripes! Even the one you think you pushed too far!
Happy Thanksgiving dear Elizabeth. I hope you have a wonderful day. I love seeing all the stars and stripes. That is a fun challenge this week for Rain's weekly challenge. Hugs-Erika
Elizabeth,
Thank you for popping over the is morning with your warm wishes and lovely visit. First, I enjoyed seeing your contributions today for Rain's Art Date. I've missed the whole month. I guess it won't be until the new year before I will resume things again. I really would like to doodle but right now my time is pressed and so I don't want to force anything. I hope you and Bleubeard have a lovely, blessed Thanksgiving. Like you, I think we need to remember to say special thanks for our freedom, good health, and the food we eat this day. We're so blessed. It's hard to imagine those who can't see all the good in their lives because of their discontent which is so sad. Take care and God bless, dear furriend!
Wonderful take on strips, the flag of course! Have to think about the penguin!
Well you nailed this theme. The flags are wonderful. Like I have said before you always come up with some exciting and different art pieces. Have a wonderful day.
Great examples of stripes!
Happy Thanksgiving Elizabeth!
I had no idea you were a gamer! How wonderful is that! I love all the creations and I think your handwriting is pretty! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving. Great examples of stripes. I loved Bleubeard’s choice.
Fine collages. I like the sentiment "One Country One Flag." I would love to see citizens behave like they are united and working together.
lol, first time I see a flag in the Stripes promt. I could have used ours also but did not think of that. :)
Lots of great stripes, hope you had a good day yesterday. Happy AEDM! Elle/EOTC xx
Hi Elizabeth ♥ Thank you for your comment about Leo...I know this touched you because he looked so much like your sweet Bleubeard. Things are getting better. Your stripes are lovely, especially the penguin and the tree-trimming! I LOVE how you described Thanksgiving Day...wonderful. ♥
