At the Christmas Market

This is my penultimate post for Chris's theme, All Kinds of Weather, at Art Journal Journey.

Although it's really cold, there is no snow to dampen the spirits

of these people visiting the Christmas Market.  Chris suggested looking ahead to the holidays, so that was what inspired this page in my altered book.  And since this reminds me of a Winter Wonderland, I'm also sharing it with the lovely ladies at Try it on Tuesday.

Everyone looks so happy.  Even the deer, who have come out of the woods to join the celebration, look like they are enjoying the atmosphere.

I covered this sentiment I created with gold fluid acrylic that matches the gold in the background.  In case you can't read it, or need it translated:
Yuletide spirits abound from Brussels to Amsterdam.
From storybook villages and fairy tale towns, a feeling
of Christmas is present in every Christmas Market.

Experience the waffles, Belgian beers, chocolate lace,
and Gouda cheese while listening to carolers and
concerts in the plazas.
I was really frustrated with this borrowed camera, so in desperation, I scanned the image, so you can better see the beautiful background.  Then I realized the gold doesn't show in the background or in the sentiment.

For this page which I created in my Collage Too altered book, I covered an entire page with a sheet of wallpaper I cut to size.  I removed the Christmas Market from a travel magazine, then tore it to size.  I added two gifted die cut deer and the computer generated and colored sentiment.

Bleubeard and I would like to thank you for dropping by today.  We also hope to see you at Try it on Tuesday with your Winter Wonderland entry and at Art Journal Journey with your own interpretation of All Kinds of Weather.

This is Day 27 of AEDM where I created a page for Art Journal Journey and Try it on Tuesday in my Collage Too altered book.

Beautiful page!
Sad about the camera, what happened to yours?
Oh, Christmas market... When will be allowed to go again - and have fun?
Even if we were allowed... with masks on (everybody!) who get´s a Christmas-feeling.
The second year for the ones who make ... made - a living from this is down the drain.
Glad to see pages like yours. Happy deers and all!

A Christmas market is on my bucket list. What a great photo Elizabeth. It also works perfect for the holiday season. And perfect for TIOT. Thanks for joining us. I’m doing this off my phone this AM as the power just went out. Let’s see how many hours this going to take before it gets on again. Anyhow. I love this piece today and it is perfect weather to visit the market. Have a great Saturday. Hugs Erika

A wonderful festive page Elizabeth! I'd love to go to the Christmas market.
Tomorrow it is Carols on the local Village Green, where the Christmas tree is lit with fairy lights, children hang the last of the decorations on the lower branches, and we sing carols by torchlight. It's a lovely opportunity to meet up with some good friends too.
Hope you're having a good weekend,
Alison

Christmas Markets are usually so magical. Sadly this year many have been cancelled (especially in Europe) or scaled down.

Sadly here in Manchester it seems to be place for folk to go and get drunk after work - I'm pleased to say that they have relocated many of the drink stalls to another area - one we won't be visiting. Last week they had to stop serving alcohol at 6pm as it was getting out of hand.

We have visited some lovely markets over the years and this page seems to capture the true spirit of a good market! Thanks so much for a reminder of happy days that fits so well into my theme at AJJ, Hugs, Chrisx

I love your Christmas market page, and I really like your background, wallpaper you say? There is a magical fairytale feel about Christmas markets, it's been a while since I've been to one though. Happy AEDM! Elle/EOTC xx

A fabulous page Elizabeth, the picture of the Christmas Market looks magical. It's a couple of years since we were able to visit one, they really do get you into the spirit of Christmas.
Thanks for sharing at Try it on Tuesday. Avril xx

Which is sadder — the cancelled Christmas markets or the ones that are possibly spreading the new wave of the awful virus. Such a difficult time in this poor world. Needless to say, these are first-world problems!

Sorry to be late calling in Elizabeth, I love this page and the Christmas market, so many have been cancelled these past few years and rightly so to protect as many as we can from the virus that is circulating all our countries .An inspirational page for Chris's theme and thank you for linking at TioT's as well.
