T Stands For Neighbors

I'd like to begin by wishing all my Canadian friends a very happy, although nearly belated, Thanksgiving.

Some of you were here last Friday when I mentioned the entire city of Wichita had a break in one of the main water pipes on Thursday.  As a result, we were instructed to boil water for at least a minute during the preparation of food, drink, or even to brush our teeth.  Those of us with pets also had to boil their water, unless, like me, I had just filled the "boys'" gallon container the night before.

Saturday we were given the "all clear," but were instructed to run our water for 10-15 minutes before drinking or using it in food prep.  Not one to allow water to run down the drain, I thoroughly soaked my herbs and veggies for 18 minutes.  I wanted to be absolutely certain the old water was flushed from the system and my plants didn't mind at all, especially when I finished in the "mist" position.

Today, however, we are out and about for T time.

One Sunday while my friend Joseph was in town, I ordered take-out at Neighbors.

At first, I thought there might be a "real" mural on the other side, but I wasn't that fortunate.

I was there to pick up an order I had called in.  I had no idea the interior was sports themed.  It was low light and was supposed to have a bit of ambiance.  Good for customers, not good for my camera.

Every sport imaginable was represented.

I started snapping photos before they could call my name to pick up my to-go order.

That must have been a really old Wichita State banner!

Our mascot, a shock of wheat, looks pretty wimpy in that banner.

Since I wasn't staying, I decided the coke with the chicken salad sandwich could be my drink for the day.  Of course, if you prefer beer, you could have a Miller High Life.

I liked how they pointed to the restrooms.

If I'd had more time,

I would have inspected the back area.

Maybe you would prefer a coke with a burger.  Or perhaps you would like a Schlitz beer.

Note the drinks people are enjoying at their tables, too.

Note the old golf bag and the croquet (or could it be a polo?) mallet.

I admired the beautiful faux Tiffany lamps as I continued my way around the room.  Then my name was called and I picked up the order and was on my way.

It's now time to share your own drink inspired post this week.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

That looks like a fun restaurant where you ordered your take aways. I'm sure sports friends would be delighted with the decoration. I hope you enjoyed your food. Happy T Day, hugs,Valerie

That looks like a fun restaurant to go to. You were lucky you have a peep while waiting for your order.
Yes, I like those 'Tiffany' lamps too.
The mallet must be a crocket implement. Polo is played on horses and they would have longer mallets. Just a thought. Of course I don't really know...
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Wow- that is a LOT of sports memorabilia!! I would have had a really long stay if my hubby was there with me:):):) Very interesting and I especially appreciate the older more vintage ones. I do hope you all enjoyed the food you picked up.
We had a water main break and the same issues as you a year ago I believe- not fun. I did the same as you and put the "waste" water to other uses outside. Happy T day!

Looks like a great restaurant to browse. Those lamps are beautiful! I hope you enjoyed your take out.
What a great way to make use of that water you had to "waste." We had a similar situation recently. We went without water for 2-3 days and then had the boil advisory for another few days. It is very inconvenient and certainly makes one think about how much we rely on having running water.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

All the memorabilia would certainly keep me interested if I was sitting inside. I wonder if it keeps people off their cell phones. It also creates a great atmosphere compared to some sports bars I've been in.And it has a kind of vintage feel. How was the chicken salad? I hope you have a super T day my friend and your week is going well. Hugs-Erika

I had to cringe when I read that everybody had to run their water for 10 - 15 minutes. Every drop of water counts for us, and as someone living in an exceptional drought I thank you for not letting it run down the drain but use the water for your plants. When something like the break of the water pipe happens we realize how important the things are we usually take for granted.

Elizabeth, what a cool looking restaurant. Hope the food was great too. YOu took some great pictures.

Glad you used the rinse water wisely. We all take our water for granted and things like this renew our gratefulness.

Happy T-day!!! Hugz

Great decor! I will look it up as I haven’t been there, I don’t think. :). I couldn’t get online last week. This week After I posted I couldn’t get online to comment! So frustrating. I. Think it is my laptop, not our wireless, because our other devices get on fine. But can’t post my blog or comment from my iPad. Eek! LOL. Have a wonderful almost T Day, Elizabeth!

That looks like a fun restaurant. You could just spend the day looking at all the old-time posters and bric a brac. Since the handle is so long, that looks more like a polo mallet than a croquet mallet. the Pride of St. Louis poster made me smile. My Dad enjoyed baseball and used to talk about the Dean brothers. Happy T Day

Here I am and it isn't even Tuesday morning yet. Lol.

I'm glad to read that the water situation has returned to normal. It is hard to cope without the basics xuch as water.

I enjoyed your tour, lots to see.

They certainly have some great memorabilia, our son takes us to a sports bar in SF but unfortunately they have TVs on every wall, too noisy for my liking when I’m eating breakfast
All that water wasted but good thinking using it on the garden, we try not to waste water, we had to bring a water barrel back from England as we could find one to buy over here would you believe.
Happy T day

Definitely sports themed.
I am really glad you have your water back - giving your plants a drink was a great way to clear the pipes.

Such a cool place! If a little too much, maybe?
But what the heck, to sport!!! Without me these days, though...

That’s an impressive collection of advertising materials! I”m on a ship with less than usual time and less than usual internet access, but managed to link up to say one hello to everyone — I’ll be back to commenting next week.

I’ll be posting photos of my river boat trip on the Columbia and Snake rivers all week.

I had the best of intentions, but didn't make T Tuesday this week. Between a birthday and our central unit going out... well, it's been a week, I'll say that lol

That restaurant looks like fun. I'd like to send them a few sumo photos and some old southern wrestling with local-to-me greats :) I look forward to feeling safe dining in :)

Just another comment after reading your comment to mine.
Our cat has the freedom to roam in the neighbourhood, but she never leaves our property for some reason. Our property is large so she has plenty of places to play and hide and lie in the sun.
The orange juice we had at the restaurant did not come out of a bottle. It was freshly squeezed. They have a special machine that does that and there are lots of oranges as they grow just down the road.
