Monday Murals: Ad Astra Per Aspera

It's time once again to join Sami at Sami's Colourful World and her Monday Murals.  Even though it's still Sunday in my world, please be aware that Sami's mural link goes live at 11:01 a.m. my time today.

This is a play on both the Wichita, Kansas flag and the Kansas flag.

This is a copy of the Kansas flag I found on the internet.  It shows our state seal, state motto, and state flower.

For those of you who don't remember your Latin, our state motto translates to "To the Stars through Difficulties."

The stars represent the state motto and the hogan (the round image in the center), part of our Wichita flag, is a Native American symbol for home.

This mural was created in June, 2017 by the Lupoli Collective.  This mural is located at 311 South Emporia in Wichita, Kansas (USA).

If you enjoy murals from around the world, please don't forget to visit Monday Murals at Sami's Colourful World.  Thanks for stopping by to visit Bleubeard and me.  We are both grateful you took time to join us today.

Hooray for murals. And street art more generally.
We seem to be a lot less 'flag conscious' than you. Flags fly at official buildings/events but rarely anywhere else.

...I had to search for the meaning of "AD ASTRA PER ASPERA." It's been a long time since Latin class in high school and I was n awful student! A colorful mural right out of the can. Thanks for sharing. Take care and enjoy your week ahead.

My mother's high school class motto was "Ad Astra..." and she told us about it from time to time. She graduated the year Lindbergh flew! The image chosen for the class was a picture of his plane flying to the stars.

Interesting mural today. I am glad you explained it, because otherwise it wouldn't mean much.It is interesting to see the Kansas flag too. I love the image in the middle. Hope you had a great weekend. Hugs-Erika
