Butterfly Beauty

Today we welcome a new host for the month of June to Art Journal JourneyPlease welcome Mia, who you may know as Craftartista (which is also the name of her blog).  She is my dear friend who lives in Greece.  Mia's theme for June is Butterflies

Today I give you Butterfly Beauty.  Much to my surprise and enjoyment, Try it on Tuesday is also featuring Butterflies this fortnight.

I've included a few step out photos.

I cannot take credit for the lady who has been colored.  She was given to me by my friend Kathy when she got rid of some of her art pieces she didn't want anymore.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with her, but I kept her thinking I would find a use for her someday.  When I remembered I had stamped and fussy cut all these borrowed butterflies, I wondered if she would go with them.  Thankfully she did, at least close enough you would never know she wasn't supposed to go with the butterflies.

I began by laying down several colors of alcohol inks on photo paper.  When the page was dry, I adhered it to the watercolor journal using PVA glue.  I added the lady and the butterflies using pop dots.  I wasn't sure how I was going to keep her grounded, when I realized she looked like she was flying.  I used a black marker on the body and antenna of the small frontal butterfly.  Finally, I added the date.

We hope you will join Mia, Chris, Erika, Valerie, Yvonne, Bleubeard, and me this month at Art Journal Journey with your own art inspired by Butterflies.  Please be aware, we want to see your altered book pages, journal pages, loose journal art, canvases, fabric pages, and digital art.  However, we cannot accept cards, ATCs, ATCoins, tags, index cards, rolodex cards, or 3-D art not attached to your journal page, and, even though we don't want to, will be forced to delete your entry.

Speaking of Index Cards, today is the first day of ICAD 2021 (Index Card A Day) hosted once again by Daisy Yellow.

Here is Day 1 of 61.

Sadly, ICADs are now only shown on Instagram or Facebook, neither of which I am a member.  Therefore, the only place you will see mine are here.  I will show them weekly every Saturday through July 31.

Bleubeard is preparing for these two months of ICAD art, and also wants you to join him and me at Art Journal Journey and Try it on Tuesday

Lovely lady! I have a friend who goes by that name, she would love this :-)
The only butterflies I have are 3-D-stickers on my door...

That is super clever - and lovely. Butterflies are the best kind of ephemeral magic.

I was so sure I had commented on this page. I am sure I visited you earlier.
Anyway, I was surprised to see how you had interpreted the theme of butterflies. What genius this is. I love how you have used butterflies to clothe the lady. Love her lace petticoat especially.
A great page Elizabeth.
Hugs, Neet xx
