T Stands For Trivet

I have a ton of real wood furniture.

That's especially obvious in my dining room.  And when I sit at this table, I always have something under my mug, whether hot or cold.

That's where I am today with my new trivet.  It's taken me almost two years to save enough of these broken clothes pins to make this trivet.

Granted, I could have used new ones, but then I would have thrown the ones away that got broken in the wind when they were on my clothes line.

Most of these were half pieces still on the line, along with the metal spring.

I originally planned to show how I assembled the clothes pins, but after I assembled the two legs of each pin back to back, I forgot to show any step out photos.  By that time I became engrossed in how to fit the legs into an assembly.  I found the information a couple of years ago on the internet, and thought I had bookmarked it.

Sadly, I couldn't remember exactly how the pieces fit together and I had trouble trying different ways of assembling them.  As a result, I made a mess with the E6000 I used in the assemblies.

I'm not sure this is how these pieces are supposed to fit together,

but it works for me.

For Day 13 of 22, I assembled 26 individual legs of broken clothes pins and turned them into a trivet to hold my coffee.

Now it's your turn to share a drink related post.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

But wait. While you are here, let me take up a bit more of your time.  Many of you saw on Friday I had gotten my Covid shot.  My friend Erika pointed out she wasn't given a choice of Covid shots.  Sally, who got hers over a month ago and has been out of quarantine for over two weeks, got, if I remember correctly, the Pfizer vaccine, which is currently being offered.  I, on the other hand, knew only 1000 doses of the J & J vaccine were available once a month on the 8th, so since I was now eligible for the shot, because I'm over 16, I stalked the Sedgwick county web site and called several times until I got an appointment.  We are the largest city and the largest metropolitan area in the state, and still are only eligible for 1000 doses of the J & J vaccine a month.  There will probably be even less next month due to J & J's manufacturing problems.

Some of you also saw I went to I-Hop for my birthday pancakes after my shot.I love anything free.

This is what I ordered on take-out

and this is what it looked like when I assembled it at home.  Please don't laugh too hard.  It may not have been as pretty, but it sure tasted good.  And it had the most calories of all the pancakes, too.  Did I also mention it was FREE?

Please be aware that Valerie is in the hospital/clinic.  It will be later in the week before she will have a chance to visit.

Poor Valerie, she wasn’t out of the clinic very long before she went back in. Your trivia made of clothes=pin pieces is very clever. Somehow people are always giving me — or I’m always buying — drink coasters, which I use all the time. So instead of finding a way to make more of them, maybe I need to find a useful way to recycle THEM!

A great idea to make a coaster out of clothes pegs. Yes, We still use the wooden ones too. The plastic pegs get very brittle in the sun and they disintegrate after a year. The wooden ones last much longer.
Lucky girl with another free coupon. We never get anything free. I'm not complaining, but they don't do that here.
Your pancake looks very calorific indeed. I bet it was delicious.
Happy belated birthday. And congratulations on getting the vaccin. We just have to wait our turn. I will get a phone call when it is my turn and I then I get allocated a day and a place to go.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
I think Valerie mentioned in one of her comments that she had to go back in this week.

LOVE your trivet - and wish they were in more consistent use here. My hints/demands fail.

That is a long time to collect broken close pins. I know you can get a whole bag of close pins at the dollar store for $1. But such a great idea for trivet.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

LOVE your trivet!!! I would definitely try to make some of these as I have lots of clothes pins- and yes there are broken ones in the mix;)
The sound of the pancakes -yum- but yes, I'd need to pick and choose where I'm willing to sacrifice the calories-and it would be most likely on something savory:)
Sorry to hear that Valerie is back in the clinic as she was only recently allowed to leave and go home...thank you for letting us all know.
We don't have a choice in the vaccinations at this point either so we are waiting a bit longer to see how things continue in our area.
Happy T day wishes!

That trivet is another brilliant idea. I bet it works well too. And those pancakes look yummy. I haven't been to iHop in a long time, and you make me want to go get take out. I have never seen nor tried creme brulee pancakes but what a yummy idea for pancakes. And you didn't have any side effects from your vaccine? Have a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

Clever trivet. I'm so happy about your shot! J was going to get that one on Friday but then the news about all the people fainting came out. He's a fainter anyway so I called him and told him to wait.
Happy T day!

I never would have thought to save broken pins for a coaster-very clever idea and it looks great too. I have lots of coasters on my wood tables too, and if someone forgets that should come to visit I give them one haha.
your pancakes look delicious-of course I would not be able to eat those, I make them for my husband once in awhile. Happy T and new week -hugs

Did I miss something?!
I often think I must be dreaming, this Corinna can´t be real, but now a Christmas tree? Am I dead?
Hope I´m alive and kicking and rightfully love your trivet! And the mug.
I have plastic, btw, so ... nothing like that from here (I don´t even know if you can buy wooden ones here? I still have plastic-baer-ones from the 70´s!).

Sorry... the pancake did make me laugh :-)

The pancakes sound and look fabulous! Love your broken pin trivet - so clever and fun and useful! Love the wooden furniture. With lumber prices so high - it is probably super valuable right now! I have heard it is hard to even buy furniture right now - some crazy stuff going on in the world. Love your post sweet friend. Glad I could join in the party today. Hugz

Hi Elizabeth, what an amazing idea to make the trivet from clothes pegs, I really love that idea, why does the other half and the spring always get stuck on the line!!
Well done getting your vaccine and going out at last for pancakes, I must admit I love them with Maple Syrup but not so much with cream. I only like them on their own, not with breakfast. I wouldn't laugh at your attempt as mine would look like that too.
So sorry to hear Valerie is back in the clinic, hope she is OK.
Happy T Day

we wanted the pfeizer but only Moderna was available first. So many people here in the Denver area got J and J and had terrible reactions. I originally wanted it so I guess I'm glad it wasn't available to us... but I reacted to the first shot so I'm waiting to talk to the doctor about taking the second. Moderna seems to have more strident reactions. Of course.
I'd eat the pancakes for sure! I don't mind what they look like either!
I'm too distracted to join in to Tuesdays, sorry bout that.
