Secret Security Garden

I'm joining my friend Sheila, who many of you know as Orange Esmeralda. She is our host this month at Art Journal Journey, and her theme is A Single Flower.   And since Try it on Tuesday's latest challenge is Say it with Flowers, I'm joining them, too.

I give you my single flower.

It's rather unique.

I've never seen another like it before.

Even the leaves are different.
That's why I keep it in my secret security garden.

I keep it hidden away from prying eyes

in my secret security garden.

For this page, I started by spritzing several colors of my handmade shimmering mists onto 90 lb. watercolor paper.  Once dry, I cut circles from several different designs of security envelopes.  I continued the same for the stem and leaves.  I outlined the stem using a black extra fine Sharpie.  I added the words, also written by hand on a security envelope that I then outlined using the same Sharpie.

Thanks for joining Bleubeard and me today.  We are really grateful you stopped by.  We would also like to see you at Art Journal Journey and Try it on Tuesday with your take on these flower inspired themes.

This is brilliant, Elizabeth.
I admired this flower all the way down as the secret gradually unfolded.
And at the end ....... !!! ......... it's made from security envelopes!!!
I've never seen one like this before either.
Everyone should have a secret security garden to keep our security flowers safe. I'm not surprised that you have kept this special flower hidden.
Great unique art, Elizabeth, and great fun blogpost.
Thanks so much for revealing this special flower on my challenge.

Very creative use of an unusual textured paper, which another commenter explained to me was security envelopes. Our environment is so full of unexpected things.

I love your layers and how the patterns look there. I think your background is lovely and sets off the flower perfectly. The "secret security" idea is such a creative connection.

That's very unique! And interesting, seeing the security envelopes used so creatively. They work very well together -- loads of texture!

I love your secret flower hidden away in your secret security garden! Its a true beauty! These envelopes really did have some lovely patterns in them - most of ours come from the same places each month and aren't very spectacular! Thank you so much for linking to Try It On Tuesday again! Hugs, Chrisx

I thought this was made from fabric as I wandered through your photographs. What a clever play on words for the title of your piece now I see what it is made from. Very clever Elizabeth.
Love the background.
Hugs, to you all
