Good as gold

Today I'm joining Valerie, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is Heavy Metal.  And because most of us will agree these paper dolls are Oh So Cute, I'm also joining Try it on Tuesday with their Oh So Cute theme this fortnight.

For this page I found a quote by Charles Dickens.

It reads "As good as gold."

I thought these two

TH paper dolls

looked like they fit the quote nicely.

For this page I created in my watercolor journal, I started by laying down two colors of dye ink all over the page.  I then added two joss papers that were gold and silver.  I computer generated the words and colored them using two metallic gel pens.  I spent a lot of time going through my paper dolls and found two that met both size and subject criteria.  I intentionally left one silver square blank.

Thanks so incredibly much for visiting today.  I hope to also see you at Try it on Tuesday and Art Journal Journey.  And I hope to catch up with everyone who has already linked at AJJ, even though it is increasingly more difficult to play catch up.

Those metallic squares look just like gold leaf, so luscious. They really make those little peeps pops. That saying is very close to my heart as I can recall my dear GrandMother saying it all the time in relation to her many many Grandchildren & great Grandchildren. As a Mother of 7 children herself you can imagine how many offspring that amounted to.
Hope you are on the road to recovery now Elizabeth? It doesn't sound like life has been easy on you recently. Take care of yourself. Hugs Tracey xx

What could be better than gold for a metal challenge? So pretty and precious! Also tuning on another lovely background.

I love how you combined heavy metal with oh so cute. That is one amazing feat I think. And that quote is super. I've heard it lot but never thought of it for this challenge. Those TH found relatives are the best, and you used a couple of definite cuties. See you late today for T, so have a great Monday. And thanks for joining us at TIOT and for sharing your page at AJJ too. Hugs-Erika

cute piece Elizabeth ! I remember "paper dolls" as a kid. seems we had more fun with them then the store bought 3D ones; was it McCall's magazine they were in !! ? ☺☺♥♥

"As good as gold" The description Dickens used in "A Christmas Carol" to describe how Tiny Tim behaved in church. The little people you chose certainly fit that quote nicely and how they shine on the metallic background.

Wow - that golden glow is just fabulous - especially the gleaming backgrounds behind the paper dolls (love those two, and they definitely seem to belong together... I seem to remember I used them on a pair of tags once upon a time!). Wonderful quartet composition to the page too.

A great page Elizabeth and those cute paper dolls look lovely against the golden glow of the metalic papers, the quote seems to fit so well.
I'm playing catch up too, but two tiny grandchildren seem to be taking up most of my time these days.
Thanks for sharing your page over at Try it on Tuesday.
