You probably won't hear too much from me today because
I'll be watching the transfer of power. I look forward to seeing what the "new normal" inauguration looks like. I'm both excited and nervous. I would hate to see a repeat of January 6. However, since you can't sit and watch the event with me, I'll share some art instead.
I'm back joining Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey. Her theme is Favorite Things.
For this page, I started by spritzing several of my shimmering mists on the 110 lb cardstock. I cut images from various travel magazines that depicted many types of architecture. Finally, I added the sentiment using a fine tip Sharpie.
Bleubeard and I are delighted you chose to visit us today, and we would love to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Favorite Things.
And if you are watching the inauguration, I'll be watching right along with you. I wonder if it will be shown in the rest of the world. What we know for certain (as of this posting):
Following tradition, the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John
Roberts, will administer the oath of office to President-elect Biden.
Vice president-elect Harris will take her oath of office from Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
Vice-president Pence will attend the ceremony.
Former President Clinton will attend the ceremony.
Former President Bush will attend the ceremony.
Former President Obama will attend the ceremony.
Soon-to-be former president Trump will leave town before the ceremony takes place.
21 thoughtful remarks:
Funny, architecture broke my neck, so to say.
I had a coolman A0 drawing machine back then to do my work.
After I had my diploma we went for 7 months to Australia and the architectural scene was even worse when we came back.
Ran around to askk for a job with that A0 work, then digitilized it and finally ended up in IT.
The machine I ironically got for cheap from an architect that had to close. That was some sign already.
I do hope everything rolls smooth over at your place - bet it will be in the German news, and I hope it will be GOOD news!
Wonderful architecture. In our little town we have architecture spanning 13 centuries. Hope the inauguration goes well, I will be watching as much as I can here. Hugs, Valerie
the early morning news here in the UK has spoken of little else (well apart from Covid of course) so yes, the world will be watching. Not me, I will be at work, but it will be all over the news later so I won't miss much! have a good day
Wonderful buildings there. :)
Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 and hoping there won't be any untoward events in DC or anywhere else, during the inauguration.
Beautiful art as always, love seeing what you post... Your presidency ordeal is always interesting to us down under, oh well, let's hope it's all a good inauguration, we are having it here around 3am and I won't be watching...I will be zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Such a wonderful page! I love architecture too and was mesmerised by all of the different buildings and structure that you added to your page. The squares of the collaged pictures seemed architectural in nature too - perfect 😁. Have a great day! Hugs, Jo x
People around the world join you in wishing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris a successful inauguration and the beginning of a restorative period in America. I hope that arch-creep Trump will fade away like a bad dream. He has been a nightmare actually.
Elizabeth, you would have been a wonderful Architectural Historian! Love your presentation on yet another lovely background. I will be there with you all day watching and feeling enormous relief. The return of civility to the Presidency could not be more welcome!
I'm watching along with you Elizabeth. Almost midnight here and we are also watching the ceremony. Right now Biden's family is arriving.
Exciting times!
...the air is fresher today!
Really beautiful examples of architecture in your collage. At 12:01 PM today, such a feeling of relief
I've been watching the inauguration too. What a day of hope and joy. I have to say I even got a bit choked up during the ceremony. This is a good day for our country and hopefully it will bring healing and unity...in time at least.
This is a great page because I also love architecture. You found some fabulous examples. It is great to see all the variations in the world, and you found some super photos of those variations. It's a great planet in many ways. (And now we just need to improve the parts that aren't so good in any ways we can.) Thanks again for another page. Hugs-Erika
I love architecture too. So happy we are moving forward as Erica perfectly said with hope and joy.. thanks for a wonderful post and sharing your architecture. Looking forward to moving forward with social healing and better days with empathetic, intelligent leadership.
A wonderful page with beautiful images Elizabeth!
Glad the inauguration went off peacefully.
Hugs,
Alison xox
We can breathe again! What a great day it has been. Our country can strive for the right path, justice, and reliance on rational thinking.
be safe... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I watched every minute and for the first time in so many years I felt like I could breathe again. That there was some sanity in Washington. The ugly isn't over but at least the sanity is here.
Woot! Woot! I'm so happy and so relieved we made it peacefully through the day!!!
It was remarkable! So opposite from the me-me-me guy. It was an us-us-us event that brought tears to my eyes. Happy, hopeful tears. :)
I watched it from the very beginning. I was so full of emotion and hope. President Biden has a huge mountain of work ahead of him. Even with that life had a better feel to it.
I only watched parts of it, but I felt like it was a good start and I am hoping things can settle down a bit now. I love architecture as well - especially any that is unusual. Great pictures and super interesting page, Elizabeth. Hugz
What a glorious day :) I enjoyed all the ceremonies, but I didn't watch the evening festivities. Just knowing I can wake up without worrying about what the heck the president has tweeted, who he's insulted, who he's fired or hired... What a relief! I feel sad for Biden that he's entering the office when everything there is such a train wreck, but he seems to be making a good start.
Architecture is a fascinating subject -so many types, so much variety!
