I realize I'm late sharing my Second Thursday Tutorial, but since I've never shared it with Friday Smiles before, I thought it would be a great time to introduce Annie (at A Stitch in Time) and the wonderful ladies who share their lives and humor at Friday Smiles to one of my monthly tutorials. After all, this IS a very special Friday Smile. Congrats to Annie for 400 wonderful weeks of smiles.
Sadly, I've not had time to create this tutorial, but I PROMISE to create it next Friday. Instead, today, I will share my trees.
But first, let me put you in the mood with a bit of humor I ran across recently.
I hope this made most of you smile.
Let's start in my dining area, where I have the first tree I was ever gifted. It sits on my antique fern stand this year, but it's been many places in the past, including my dining room table.
I've had it since I was 19 and it has held up very, very well considering how many times I've moved it.
A few years ago, I added the rocking horse decorations.
We've now moved to the living area of this very large room. Even though I sprayed it with sealant, the glitter from this tree often leaves its mark.
Moving to my front porch,
I have this tree that sits here. I was surprised it didn't fall over, which it normally does, when the winds hit 50 mph, as they did this last week.
OK, it isn't a tree, but it's made of pine branches and pine cones. I made this years ago and it is starting to show its age, especially the ribbon I failed to fluff before placing it on the hanger on the porch.
This tree started bare in a black plastic pot. I bought it years ago at a nursery and added all the goodies and the burlap base. It has been on every flat surface in my living/dining area. It is also starting to show its age.
I feel sorry for the little angel who sits on the top of the tree. How would you feel with a pine branch up your butt?
Detail of the tree decorations. One year I added lights to the tree. When the lights burned out, I ripped them out of the tree and did more damage than had I never added them in the first place. Can you see the lamb that sits on the desk on my front porch?
This tree started life as a napkin holder, but I use it to hold my Christmas cards I receive each year. I've already received some, which makes me feel guilty, since I've done nothing to date. I haven't even finished my tip-ins, which should have gone out two weeks ago to friends overseas.
As you can see, I've now finally hung my birthday gift from Scott, the
Hieronymus Bosch's triptych commonly called
The Garden of Earthly Delights.
The final room is my main floor bath. And, no, I didn't clean it prior to taking this photo. My belief is, if you can't eat off your bath surfaces, it isn't clean enough.
I purchased this tree specifically for this space. It fits with my cardinal/red bird inspired main floor bath.
I sincerely hope you have enjoyed seeing my trees I sprinkled in with my always present rocking horses that go so well at Christmas (at least here in the states). It's obvious I didn't go all out like I normally do each year, but this year, NO ONE is coming inside my home. I did this for me, because the cats could care less. At least they don't climb on furniture.
Now let's head over to Annie's because she knows how to put a smile on everyone's faces. And whatever you do, please
don't forget to start your weekend off right with a few Friday Smiles
of your own. And remember, if you would like to play along, Annie would love to have you join us.

Oh, poor Pinocchio - I bought one in Lucca for the Nieces, but reckon he was no winner, either!
Do you know sweet Adriano´s song on this?
Cute, strong tree, too (or you are like really careful with it!).
Is that a sandwich for Santa??? (I love that tree in the background, too). And the others, and the bathroom! Will you light the candle and make a wish?
Yes. Many will stay home alone, "hard lockdown" planned over here and yesterday I had a mask-free encounter. With proper distance, of course.
OK, a smile now, as you said!
LOVE your Chrissy decco's. xx
Hi Elizabeth, I still wonder how Donald Trump got into power when so many people hate him though I clown isn't much better! Loving all your trees and couldn't help but notice you have some copper moulds on the wall which just shows we have similar taste as I have some of those on the wall in my kitchen. I will try and remember to photograph them so you can see them another time. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
I loved the joke at the start and your trees are just gorgeous. I love how you have them in every room. Thanks for joining in each week.
Hugs,
Annie x
Hello Elizabeth. Gosh how much I miss when I have a blog break. I hope I didn't miss anything important like a post about Squiggles, I'll have to go and check.
I just love all your trees. The first one looks like a tree out of a pantomime, I love its energy. I love that you have one in the bathroom too.
I like the tree that holds your Christmas cards too, what a nice idea.
Of course you put up the trees for you, that's every bit as important as a tree for visitors. I enjoyed this tree post very much and I also enjoyed having a little trip through your home.
Happy December to you and the boys.
The joke was very funny 😺 Your Christmas decorations are beautiful, and the crocheted doily under your first Christmas tree is also very pretty.
Love that you have Christmas everywhere .... Merry Merry!!!
Loved the joke Elizabeth :)
I like the fact you put up Christmas decorations in every room. This year I've only put up the Christmas tree and a couple of other small pieces in the lounge.
I agree Elizabeth. My decorations are for me this year, but most of them have come out all the same.
I love all your little trees, and big ones! The red one is cute but I am not sure I could cope with decorations in the bath room.
Te story at the beginning was funny, and made me smile.
Have a good week. Kate x
I loved the funny story at the beginning. I must remember to read it out to hubby when he comes up.
It's wonderful to see your house all decorated. For you! Of course for you, I can't imagine people decorating for other than their household. Like other commenters, I like the tree in the bathroom. It's really nice that there is a tree in every room. I love the wreath, old though it is.
Your cats must be very well trained that they don't knock things over. Well done Squiggles and Bluebeard!
Have a lovely weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca
I love your trees :) That red and silver one is one I've never seen the like of. It's wonderful!
Beautiful decos, dear Elizabeth. You obviously love cardinals too. The HH just gave me one last night for the tree:)
OMG. I love that joke! I'm sharing it with every dem I know:)
Elizabeth; I have a tree similar to that in the first photo. No decorations out here though because of two certain beings....cousin dai$y has a tree though which makes the boys mad .... oh well.
May your Christmas be merry and your new year happy and healthy
to bleu and squiggles as well
we are offline until January

Your house looks so pretty and festive Elizabeth. I like the birthday present you have hung up. It is a beauty. And you house is so clean too. I think since I've retired my house is messier and not as picked up. Too many other fun things to do. Smile. Hope it was a great FRiday and start to your weekend. Hugs-Erika
Oh my gosh! You have been very busy with your Christmas things! At the moment I have Christmas things and crafty boxes getting in a muddle in all the rooms...at Mr Jinx hiding in them all! Have a great WOYWW week, Stay Safe. ((Lyn)) #15
Yes, you gave me a real giggle with that joke.
Your place looks so festive!! :)
I LOVED seeing your home and trees. That glitter one is so cute -- even if it leaves a bit of itself behind (pine needles do that too!). I love seeing many trees in a space. And it is fun to know their "stories," for I think many trees do. I spied a few rocking horses, too! And I am WILD about the napkin holder-turned-mail holder. That a GREAT idea! And that red one in the bathroom is really cute. Very cheery. Oh, what a happy post!
Lovely decorations! I'm impressed you even have them in your bathroom.
Alison xx
