Pick Up Line

I thought I would share another Art Journal Journey entry using Chris of Pear Shaped Crafting's theme Hold the Line.

I always love a play on words, especially when they include a double entendre.

I have several National Geographic magazines I've been saving to alter with Turpenoid or CitraSolv.  Unfortunately, they are primarily from the 1990s.  I was hoping for something older, but realized back in the 1990s, the SUV was becoming the vehicle of choice for families, even though SUVs have been around since 1935.

I searched through no less than six National Geographic magazines and only found

this tiny ad for pickup trucks that was small enough to go inside a used photo mount.

The rest were examples of SUVs that are still apparently very popular.

Note I tried to find as many different SUVs as possible by all the major American automotive manufacturers.  I had one more, but couldn't fit it on the page.

For this page, I began with 110 lb. cardstock.  I added the SUVs using glue stick and the photo mount using E-6000.  I computer generated and printed the words "This is not a pick up line."

Thanks so very much for visiting Bleubeard and me today, and we hope to also see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Holding the Line.

Fun page with lots of nice cars. SUVs are very popular here, too. Great sentiment you chose. Have a good weekend, stay safe, hugs, Valerie

Here people are a bit dumb. Complaining about gas/petrol being too expensive, parking spaces too small and rare yet they buy SUVs, most not even having 2+ kids...
When we traveled Australia 1999 we had a huge Nissan Patrol LWB and I have to admit... great view from up there!
Fun page, I didn´t know SUVs existed so long!

Funny with all the cars, I'm glad we don't have and don't need a car, I can go anywhere. We don't have the money either.
Great site made up!
Have a nice weekend, hug Elke

This is a clever take on lines. I didn't think of this one. Or the pick up line one to go with the cars.Smile. Nice job! I love to play with words also, only you did way better than me with lines this month in that front. The cars are great and nice page. Happy Saturday Elizabeth! hugs-Erika

As a gal who grew up driving tractors and then my first road vehicle being a Land Rover I really enjoyed having a Range Rover when my three boys were young. These days though a big car has just become a status symbol with or without children - it's a pity most of the folk I see in them can't drive them - let alone park them straight! (Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox!) I do love your page and this great play on words - and I still enjoy seeing SUVs in certain situations! Thanks so much for this addition to my theme at AJJ, Hugs, Chrisx

Pick up line made me think of the line of mommy vans and SUVs at the girlies' schools. At the time, I had a regular car so felt small and overwhelmed with them parked all around me. 🎃

Such a cute play on words!

You're so clever, Elizabeth! Who else would think of "pickup line" and a bunch of bad car examples. In the 60s, it had to be a convertible, classic Chevrolet or Corvette. I have no idea what today's pickup lines are. Hugs, Eileen
