Her Hidden Heart
Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month and our theme is Hearts. And because Try it on Tuesday's theme is Share the Love, we'll be joining these amazing mixed media artists, too.
Today we are looking for her hidden heart.
If we open the bag,
is it possible
we're going to find
where she hid her heart?
Looks like she's more vulnerable than we first thought.
We believe her heart may be showing through.
It may not be as hidden as she might have hoped.
For this page, I started with a substrate of 110 lb card stock to which I first added the heart and sheet of scrapbook paper. I had to position it in the correct spot so it could show through the heart I had already cut in the brown paper bag. Once the brown paper bag was in place, I decorated it with two circles and a wrapper from a miniature Reese's cup (the sacrifices I make for art). I colored the circles and the words using a water soluble crayon. In retrospect, I wish I'd used a third circle over the Reese's cup, but overall, I like how this turned out. I purposely left areas of the bag free of glue so it looked like it also held items other than the heart.
Bleubeard and I are thrilled that you stopped by today. We hope to also see you at Art Journal Journey and Try it on Tuesday.

That's a fun page with the hidden heart and great that you sacrificed yourself and a Reese's cup, I would have gladly helped you there! I must make some of my peanut cups again, yummy. Have a fun day, take care, Valerie
I love this one... it's simply amazing Elizabeth! Happy weekend and hugs and hugs to the boys too!
ahhh how gorgeous, so love this.x
This is a brilliant idea!!! Love it.
And there is still room for surprises, too...
I love the cut-out heart revealing the book text behind - and then the echoes of the text in the discs over at the side. I love the frilled texture of the chocolate wrapper too - what a clever idea to use it (and a nice excuse to eat a miniature Reese's cup too!)

Using and decorating a brown paper bag would be a great way to wrap a gift, too. 😻
Good morning, this page was very fun and clever of you to design-loving it. I like CJ's idea of using to also wrap a gift
What a beautiful transformation! I love how you used the paper bag and added the pretty hidden heart - perfect 😁. Thanks for all your lovely comments on my blog this week! Sorry I haven't visited much, our yearly beer festival is in full swing at the moment so I've not had much time. I've tried a few different stouts for you though, cheers ...lol 😉. I hope you've had a great week and wishing you a happy weekend! Hugs, Jo x

This is lovely Elizabeth, and a great idea.
So sweet! The "hidden" heart showing through :)
Oh that’s clever. I’m a heart on my sleeve kinda gal, so I always admire the idea of those who aren’t, and I love the idea of the journal page making it real! My lovely Mama used to say you have to suffer to be beautiful, and my artist uncle told me you have to suffer for your art. I so admire your taking one for both teams!!
A lovely and clever page with lots of great recycling ideas as well!
This is another very clever page. I think using the paper bag was also a great idea. I like how it works with opening. Thanks for sharing with us at TIOT. I also love the circles too. Hope the weekend is going well. Hugs-Erika
Really cleaver, I like this a lot.
Wow a great page idea using the paper bag and making us think her hidden heart was out of sight in the bag , then seeing it gently resting in a larger heart, made me think she had found a safe and loving place to be.
