T Stands for Cholita's again

Please note.  My internet has been offline since Saturday.  Apparently it affected over half the city.  I'll be by to visit everyone as I can.

Once in awhile my foodie friend Sally and I enjoy good Mexican food.  We come here a lot.  This restaurant is in a strip mall and it's really hidden from the street.  Regardless, it's always busy.

I've mentioned before the decor is old and shabby.  It needs Robert Irvine to come in with his Restaurant Impossible show.  For my international readers, it's a reality TV show that begins with "Chef Robert Irvine has 2 days and $10,000 to do the impossible!"  He cleans the restaurant, gives it a facelift, and often changes or updates the menu.

The menu is not too bad, but this day, instead of ordering a chili relleno dinner, I ordered a Mexican omelet.  I'll never do that again.  It was flat and tasteless, or maybe I was just having buyer's remorse.  When I said something to the waitress, who was super sweet, she brought me some peppers.  They turned out to be too hot for me, so I just dumped the mild sauce on everything except the beans, and decided I had learned my lesson.  Obviously, Sally had a taco salad and we both had water, mine with lemon.

Now it's your turn.  I'm sure by now you know the "rules," but in case you don't, please show something drink related. It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, tea cups, coffee mugs, tea or coffee service, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, ATCs, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday, and not just this year.

Sorry your food didn't taste good, it's always very disappointing when that happens. I had my lunch at a bakery today, too, but it was great!
Have a good week, happy T Day, Valerie

It looks good to me :) I do tend to order the same thing every time, but I should branch out a bit like you. Happy T Day!

It does look pretty unappetizing, Elizabeth. At least Sally was happy.

Happy T-day, anyway! Eileen xx

I agree with Eileen: it looks very unappetizing and artificial. I'm sorry you were disappointed.
I often order different things, in fact I usually order what I don't know and have never eaten. Having said that, sometimes I get something I don't like, but that is the risk I take by ordering the unknown. (That is about the extent of my sense of adventure.)
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

I’m not a big fan of Mexican food. Usually too hot and spicy for me. Happy T Day

Oh so sorry for yet again internet issues Elizabeth-ugh!!! Seems the problems and issues are a big issue and it needs to be taken up with not just the providers but also the city? And then you end up with a yucky meal:( Sally's salad looks pretty good though. Here's hoping you have a much, much better week ahead! Happy T day!

Yum...I'm always up for Mexican food.
Hope you aren't without the internet too long!
Happy T day!

It does look rather bland. That's a shame. I'm sure you two will find another place to visit soon. ;)

I love good Mexican food, but that omelet looks anemic LOL!
Hope you get your internet up and running soon.
Thanks for the visit last Friday.
Happy T-day

Oh, how annoying is that with your internet all the time!

Ohhh, Mexican food! We had such a great, tiny place here, no idea why they closed. I miss the food for sure!
Yes, we have "Upper fixer" or such, also an American show with limited budget, amazing what cleverness can do with little money!

Sad your food wasn´t good this time.

I love Mexican food but I’m sorry to say that looks pretty awful.
Is that the bloke who is English?
Sorry to hear you are having problems again, we had a problem last week and in the end Steve rebooted our system, we had a power cut before and it must have messed with our signal as it worked after the reboot! Thank goodness.
Have a good week Elizabeth

Its a real shame that the food you ordered wasn't as expected. I have to say I may have been sending it back, the omelet looks like, what I would describe as a flat egg pancake [my words]
Sorry to read about your internet problems, you are having no luck with it just now.
Happy T day wishes.

I've never heard of a Mexican omelet. It looks like a regular omelet. But Sally's taco salad looks delicious. But the beans and rice are always good. Sometimes those hole in the wall places that may not be beautiful are the best. And at least you don't have to pay them for having a great decor. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

I was sorry to hear that your meal wasn't up to the normal standard, I know how much you like to eat at this restaurant! I love Mexican food like you, so we'll have chilli relleno next time 😀. Sally's taco salad looks delicious too! Sending you happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

Give me Mexican any day of the week. My FIL was from Mexico and taught me how to make authentic Mexican. The problem is getting the real spices and herbs. Have a great day.

I enjoy a good Mexican meal but hate being disappointed - and that is what I would have been if presented with your plate. Better luck next time.

I'm sorry to hear your Mexican food was disappointing. Once I find something on the menu I like, I usually stick with it. And I'm very concerned to hear about how high your fever is! I hope you're drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. The flu has been going around Connecticut for the past few weeks, so I hope it's not the flu there (or that you got a flu shot at the beginning of the season, so you're immune). And I agree: the first Star Wars were the best. I didn't dislike the prequel trilogy as much as many original Star Wars fans did, but I wasn't thrilled with it. But this new trilogy from Disney is not my cup of tea (no pun intended) for multiple reasons.

Sounds like you might have been slammed by the weekend storms. I hope all gets back soon. Not fun at all.

Ok, your food does not look good and I dislike retried beans. Is the food normally good and you just picked the wrong one or is this not a good place

Well, between the tired decor and lackluster food, I think you're right- Robert Irvine is needed! The taco salad looks plentiful and fresh though.

I've seen "Restaurant impossible" they certainly make miracles Elizabeth!
What a pity your food wasn't good, it's awful to go out to enjoy a nice meal and come out disappointed with the experience.

I hope you are feeling better today Elizabeth, without temperature. Take care, and if you can rest at home much better.
I send you big hugs, Caty

YIKES! I love a good Mexican Restaurant, but don't remember the last time I even visited one around here. Sorry your meal didn't work out this time, but it was good to hear that the waitress was super nice though. By the way, you know I'm into my trivia AND the Food Network (lol), but Cholita's may want to use their own cash to refurbish their restaurant. Over the past 6 (now 7) seasons of Restaurant Impossible, Irvine has a 24.6% success rate as of 2018. Sadly out of the 69 restaurants he visited and tried to hep, a whopping 52 of them still closed! Compare to that the Triple D Effect of Guy Fieri who has been doing his thing since 2007, and there's a HUGE difference. Business at those places that he visits is sometimes astronomical, and most are still in business. I'm so sorry your Internet hasn't been working, and feel your pain. Noting worse than not being able to get online when needed, and glad things are doing much better. Sending lots of hugs your way! RO

Hi Elizabeth. I was checking up on you, to see how you're doing. Since I don't see any new blog posts, I assume you're still sick. I hope you're taking care of yourself and have OTC medicines, etc. to take, to try to improve how you feel. Be careful about that high temperature: that is nothing to take lightly. Be well. Anne

What a shame that your meal didn't live up to your expectations... Ah well, lesson learned for next time.

I've just read Anne's comment above - I was hoping the quiet here on your blog was just about internet tricksiness. If you're unwell on top of that, I do wish you a swift smooth recovery. Look after yourself.
