I'd like to begin by wishing my dear friend Valerie a very happy birthday. Last year I jumped the gun and wished her a happy birthday a day early, which caused some confusion among her loyal readers. I'm fairly certain I got it right this year, since she mentioned it was today on her blog!!
My internet friends CJ and Kathy are part of this meme where you post your all time favorite films. I'm not sure I have more than about FOUR favorite films, but I have films I have seen that I can share. Some I've even seen more than once! However, unlike CJ, who says the meme cites there is no need to explain why you like the film, I prefer the way my internet friend Birgit reviews films. They are often hilarious, many times irreverent, but always really fun to read. Her synopses are not to be missed. If you aren't familiar with her movie reviews, please check out her blog. I assure you, you won't be disappointed and will probably come away either laughing or smiling.
You will probably want to throw me out of the Saturday Movie club because I have shown this film before, but I assure you, to me it is the ULTIMATE Christmas movie. The preview, less than 2 minutes in length, shows this is not your typical Christmas fare. Don't expect a sugar high, because your teeth won't ache from any syrup, and you won't go into diabetic shock like you will watching the sappy Christmas movies Hallmark and others are showing right now. You MIGHT, however, sit on the edge of your seat
This film, although released in July, 1988, has been considered the greatest Christmas film ever made by several film critics and in the top 10 by several others. The film turned Willis into an action star. It has become a symbol for, a blueprint of, and associated with an action film in which a lone hero fights overwhelming odds.
Thanks for visiting today and joining me for Saturday afternoon at the movies. I'm sure there are several places you can find this film and I believe you can buy the entire series on Amazon. Some cable stations might show it Christmas day like they did last year on its 25th anniversary of the film's release.

Thanks for the greetings, right on time! Just been outside on the balcony taking pics of the morning sky and the moon, so pretty. I'm not a fan of Bruce Willis, bur Alan Rickman was good here. Anyway I'll pass on seeing the film again.... Have a fun day! Valerie
THIS is a Christmas movie??? I never knew!
My fav still sits here patiently...
1988, oh, my. We are (luckily!) getting old!
Oh, you made me laugh again! Look how young he was! And he is still cute today!
Yes, yes, yes! And I like the second one in all that snow too! Thanks for the rusty wire warning. I'll try to remember to keep gloves handy in future.

They were debating on the news just yesterday morning whether this was a Christmas movie or not. It must have been a slow news day. I can see where it is considered one, but maybe not the greatest one ever. It is still a good film. Happy Saturday. Hugs-Erika
Yes! A fun Christmas movie, and I'm a fan of variety, so it's always good to add films that aren't the more traditional Christmas fare :)
I love all the Die Hard movies-Happy Saturday
I've heard lots of discussion -- is it or isn't it a Christmas movie? I don't know but if it's yours, then go for it! Big! Merriest. I might be hard to comment for the next few days and will catch up, but if I don't "See"you before then, Merry Christmas, love those trees and thank you for coming and leaving such wonderful comments at my place! So glad blogging has brought us together.
I didn't realise that this film was more than 25 years old. Bruce Willis is a very good actor. It may not be everyone's taste for a Christmas movie, but if its a film you like watching , take a comfy chair and enjoy it.

Love this one.
This is a great Christmas movie.
It's a great action movie but I forgot it had anything to do with Christmas--LOL!
My opine: GREAT action film that takes place at Christmastime but no way in heck is it even close to being a REAL Christmas movie.
Always and forever, the bestest Christmas movie is:
A CHRISTMAS STORY~!!!!!
Ralphie 4-EVER!!!
Ok, well, enjoy your action movie and Happy Christmas and New Year to you, Elizabeth! xoxo
Die Hard movies are our "go to" movies. Those are ones that we will watch any time, and day.
We also like the "Reds" with Willis, Helen Mirren +. Guess we just like Bruce Willis.
Oh my....nope, to me this is a good action flick where I laughed like hell every time Bruce took off more clothes. It could have Ben any party they just chose Christmas. I have to say, love Alan Rickman especially when he decided to kill off that smarmy jerk. I prefer Love Actually, which also co-stars Alan Rickman with many great stars in it. My favourite? Of course, it’s a Wonderful Life which is a beautiful film and was Jimmy Stewart’s favourite of all his films. I have been so busy making cookies and wrapping (not done yet) that I have been wanting to write this since Saturday.
