Boys will be boys

Today I'm joining Erika, aka Bio Art Gal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her themes polka dots, stripes, plaids, and patterns

This journal page also fits the current theme Boys/ Girls/ Children at Try it on Tuesday.

I call it Boys will be Boys.

I'm sure these boys all like the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing, and the wilderness.  I'm not sure if they like hunting or not.

I hope you can see the repeating patterns, even though they are actually just words in very different fonts that are scrolling across the page.

For this page, I began with 12 X 12 inch scrapbook paper I had been gifted.  I've had this paper for years and years and never found a reason to use it until now.  I first wrote the sentiment using a white gel pen, then sewed it to the page.  Next I sewed the lace hem tape across the width of the page.  Finally, I added the TH paper dolls to the page.

Thank you beyond belief for joining Bleubeard and me today.  I hope you will join us at Art Journal Journey and Try it on Tuesday, too.

A very American page, Elisabeth, with the perfect TH paper dolls to complete it. Love the words. Boys most certainly will be boys, as my two demonstrated so clearly...especially when I didn't understand their penchant for daring! It's a great page and perfect for Try it on Tuesday's Boys, Girls, Children challenge.

Wow! A perfect use for that paper - those TH paper doll boys look to be ideal adventurous types too! Thank you so much for joining us at Try It On Tuesday too! Hugs, Chrisx

Nice page! And before I forget, thanks for joining us at TIOT and also for joining my challenge at Art Journal Journey. I really appreciate your support. I like the pattern in the paper and how those TH paper dolls work out. I know a few girls this would work for also, but that doesn't fit your page. Hope the week is going well. Hugs-Erika

Great background for this piece, Elizabeth, and I love the vintage boys and dog images you used.

With regard to tornadoes here in the Northeast, you are correct: there is no audible warning system, and I think NOAA's only advice is to seek shelter in the basement, or in the center location of the house, or something like that. (So as you can see, I have no idea where I'm supposed to take shelter.) And the only way we even know there is a tornado watch / warning is if we are actively listening to the news and / or monitoring a weather website like NOAA, which most people here are not normally doing.

Back in June 2010, an EF1 tornado formed and touched down in Bridgeport, CT, right near I95, without much / any advanced warning. (My recollection is it actually crossed the highway, but I could be mistaken, but a news article I found reported they were inspecting buildings on both sides of the interstate for damage, so it probably did.)

This is nostalgic since we’ve raised 3 boys. I can really relate to the sentiment here. Our boys were never old enough to dress like Tim Holt’s figures, but they loved being one with nature and animals (never hunting or fishing though).

ELIZABETH, how can I get in touch with you? I’ve tried email and including my question for you in a comment. Maybe you didn’t see them. I want to share some things you will enjoy using, I hope, please get in touch. My email address is: barbjmoore18@gmail.com

The little dudes are sweet, and the dog reminds me of Petey from the Little Rascals.

Perfect boys page. :)

Great page Elizabeth. That saying rankles me a bit though - I have heard it used to excuse all types of bad behaviour in both boys and grown up men. I love how you used the sweet boys over your great outdoorsy background paper though and of course your stitching. Xo
