Today I once again joining Erika, aka Bio Art Gal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey, with her themes In the air/In the sky. Today I've once again chosen In the sky.
I'm really no good at drawing the night time sky, so went to my book on the cosmos for help.
The sentiment/title reads "The night sky". Yes, I placed the period outside the title, to show it was the end of the sentence and not part of the title.
I was having trouble with my stitch tension once I changed bobbin threads. 
Another attempt at a background made using white gesso and my handmade shimmering mist.
I admit, this was NOT my finest hour. The paper (kitchen) towel was made during a 2nd Thursday Tutorial. As I was sewing the paper towel to the background, I allowed it to stretch and slip. I was hoping it wouldn't look too bad, but in the end, it looked like it had shifted, which it had! After I sewed the night sky to the paper towel using variegated thread, I added the title. Then I sewed the assembly to the background. Thanks so much for your visit today. I am always grateful when you drop by. Bleubeard and I also hope to see you at Art Journal Journey.

Cool page my friend. I love the 2 different background papers you used. I like how you homemade shimmering mist came out. It is a gorgeous blue! And I like the stitching. It might not be good to have your tension messed up but I like how it looks on the page. Thanks so much for all your support this month with so many great pages, including this one. Oh Elizabeth! You could have got well away with this if you hadn't said you weren't happy with the sewing! I think it's fabulous - great texture and love how you composed your page! Hugs, Chrisx
I am inspired by your night sky pages Elizabeth and only wish I had the courage to actually use a real sewing machine like yourself.
The page looks fantastic, I love the colours on the towel, the blue is a gorgeous shade.

I think your night sky is fantastic Elizabeth. If you hadn't said it shifted, I wouldn't have known. Imperfection in art is okay if the end result looks beautiful, which this does. (In other words, the flaw you pointed out wasn't noticeable to me.) How did you make out with jury duty? How did you make out with the storms that keep going through your part of the country? (We had thunderstorms here in CT last night, but no damage from them.)

Elizabeth, I think this is a great mixed media creation. I love that you used kitchen towel and your sky coloring turned out really pretty. As for the problem in stitching, I think that the various stitches are perfect for the style of this mixed media creation. Hugs, my dear friend.
Well, it looks like you had fun coming up with Night Sky ... glad you are back on art and not jury duty ... lol
You may say this "slipped"... but if you hadn't told me I wouldn't've known. I like how you're able to use sewing in your art, and I'm not really sure why you're not pleased with this. I'm also impressed with your background. It's fascinating for me to hear about products I don't have and see your results.

As ever I enjoy your running commentary along with your excellent photos. I'm glad you put the period after the quote mark AND pointed it out to us. Love your dedication to correct punctuation (I try to be the same).
Back to the art which has your hand all over it, with the stitching and the painted kitchen towel which slipped, but I don't see why that was a bad thing (a mistake is a design opportunity as I'm always telling myself (and others)) and it looks perfectly fine. Nice stitching whether perfect or the machine having a bit of fun, as machines like to do.

A fabulous page with the night sky, If you hadn't mentioned the trouble you had with your machine, I would have presumed it was part of the design. I love the added texture your kitchen towel/paper gives.

I love the textures here, Elizabeth. And of course, that blue is my fave color. You do more with a sewing machine than anyone -- love the stitching.
