T Stands For GifTs

Two of my non-artistic friends gave me purchased gifts this year that were relevant to today.

One of my friends gave me a set of four holly glasses, goblets, and bowls.  She said she thought I should start my own tradition of using these between Christmas and New Year's day.  She said since it was open stock, she would buy the dinner plates and dessert plates next year.  I fear the photo doesn't do them justice, because they are lovely.  I didn't want to tell her I already have a set of eight holly goblets and clear glass plates that are gold rimmed that I bought years ago.  I've even used them once or twice for T, too.  I would never look a gift horse in the mouth, though.

Another of my non-artist friends gave me a snowman mug and this lovely Santa place mat.   I always need new place mats, because, even though I have quite a few, I use one almost every day.  I make it a point to sit at the table, either my kitchen or dining room table when I eat.    Although I may be lazy when it comes to pans when I'm baking, I still try to use china and set a proper table for my one meal of the day.  It makes the meal feel more special when I do.  I'm not trying to impress anyone, but because I was raised in a home where meals were special, I try to still respect and remember that feeling. Did you receive any drink related gifts for Christmas?

It's now time to share your drink related post.  Whether it's a Christmas gift or art in the form of a journal, altered book, or scrapbook page, you are welcome to share it.  If it's photos, a postcard, a book you read, a movie you reviewed, or a sketch you have made, please share it.  Maybe you were out and about.  Share any drink you might have enjoyed there, too.  When you link, Bleubeard, the T gang, even Squiggles, since so many of you seem to like and have requested him, and I will be by to visit.

You have lots of lovely china, and I love that you really use it. I didn't get anything food or drink related presents for Christmas, but I made myself a nice roasted and stuffed chicken. Thanks for hosting his fun meet up every week! Have a nice day, off to bed here! Hugs,
Valerie

The Santa tapestry place mat is really gorgeous! I like the glassware that matches the plates, too--very nice friends!

No drink related gifts here this year, but a lovely box of chocolates that we are enjoying!

I will comment now if you don't mind and link tomorrow when my scheduled post appears! I love your new tableware and especially the Santa table mat! We always sit at the table for our meals! I don't know how one meal a day would suit my diabetes so I won't be giving that a try I'm afraid! Hugs, Chrisx

Love the placemat and all your thoughtful gifts Elizabeth! I too like to have a nice table set for dinner-and it doesn't have to be formal-just nice:) As for drink related gifts-well, anyone that knows hubby and I knows how we love a good dry wine or champagne so we did receive a few nice bottles to enjoy this year! Cheers to the new year and a happy T day!

I love that you set at the table to eat. I miss that. A few years ago the husband started eating in the living room so he could watch TV. I head out and sat at the table for a long time hoping he would come back to it but it didn't work so now I eat in the living room too most days :( Your Christmas gifts are adorable and I really like that place mat. I didn't get any new cup or glass this year :( first time in a long time .Have a great week.

Wonderful gifts E!!
We have gotten so lax about proper settings, unless it is Christmas. We tend to sit at the bar.......and we have two tables too. It all resonates back to when the boys played sports and their schedules didn't always match, so we ate at all different times and sometimes in shifts.....LOL
Happy T-day

Nice gifts! I think you can certainly have a well put together holiday dinner. Hope your weather improves. Winter can be such a downer, can't it?

Your friends gave you some really lovely and thoughtful gifts.
Extra special because they will be put to good use too.
We are to the point where we don't really exchange gifts.
So many people I know are trying to downsize.
This year I am going to work even harder at letting go of "things".
My days of retail therapy are definitely behind me.
That said I do have a weakness for china and OK I'll stop there ;-)
Happy T Day.

What beautiful gifts! I am always slow to put away the Christmas things after the holidays, as I love them so much. I use my Santa mug year round! Love your tradition of always sitting down to a nice place setting for your meal...it is a lovely way to honor your upbringing, and also make your meal more enjoyable! Wishing you a wonderful New Year full of good health, prosperity, and many artistic endeavors! hugs ♥

Your china and goblets are beautiful! I love Christmas China and goblets. I usually grab a holly goblet every Christmas. Mind you, they don't all match (Grin) but I enjoy them. And that snowman cup is just as cute as it can be.
Thanks for reading Queen. I appreciate that.

Oh, Leah treated me to a special beverage of my choice at the Natural Grocers and I got a bottle of some really fancy root beer that was so delicious!! We also split a fancy milk chocolate bar, too. (That is what happens when you shop close to mealtime--LOL!) Happy T-Day! Sorry I didn't make it around last week.

Your friends know you well. Great gifts...We did have dinner at the table always but never so formal. But sitting at the table with family is important to me and I enjoy it when son and girl or friends visit and I do get more formal. I don't have fancy dishes because husband breaks everything, I mean everything, but I do collect vintage linens whenever I can thrift them, so I use them to make my table festive. Mismatched plates are my bag. Ha. xox
