Walking in a Winter Wonderland

This morning I'm joining Art Journal Journey whose first host of the new year (and someone whose blog I confess I've never visited before now) is Chrissie of Jumbled Crafts, who chose Winter Wonderland as the theme for January.

I'm still in collage mode and thinking about abstracts,

so I created this in my Coll-AH-ge Too altered book.

The song "Walking in a winter wonderland" came to mind (seems Valerie had the same theme in mind, but hers was definitely not abstract!), so I used some vintage sheet music on which to write the words.

Of course, trees are the very heart of this piece, so I cut some of the page I made into trees.

For the abstract, I crumpled a piece of heavy (110 lb) card stock in the shape of peaks and valleys, then flattened the paper enough to hit the high spots with two colors of pigment ink.  The trees didn't show up well, so I outlined them using a watercolor marker.

Before I forget, I'm also adding this to Moo-Mania and More, whose theme this fortnight (still LOVE that word) is "anything goes."

Thanks as always for your visits and wonderful comments.  I am most grateful and appreciate your support.  Now let's go visit Moo-Mania and More and Art Journal Journey to see what these fantastic mixed media artists have come up with.

Always super to have you with us! I hope you are well - we have winter now.. very cold (14° Fahrenheit) and a white powder over all trees... looks nice..but much too cold for me outside brrrr.

You are right on top of things! Already an entry for AJJ. Nicely done.
It's funny that instead of Walking in a Winter Wonderland, I have Anything Goes by Cole Porter in my head from your line about Moo Mania. Go figure. :)

The way your crinkled paper only took color on the folds makes it look like it has a lot of snow on it. I am sure that is what you were going for! It is a winter wonderland for sure! Hugs!

I feel like I am in the rockies with this abstract, nice snowy scene. I just flashed back to the old movie "Holiday Inn", with Bing and the lovely winter scenery. Nice. xox
