T Stands for the Zoo (and AJJ Time)

For the previous two Tuesdays, my friend Sally and I have gone to the zoo.  Sally's internet and cable provider handed out free tickets during the month of July.  It was quite a bargain, too, since looking back on the admission fee if taking a family of four, two children (under 11) and two adults, the cost would be nearly $50.00 (USD).  If the children are over 11 everyone would pay adult fees.

Not the same photo as last week, but still taken at Applebee's, this is my obligatory drink photo consisting of water and lemon.

I already had this T post ready, then I heard that Patty had received her package I sent her.  Ironically, I also received one from her the day I sent her package to her.

Along with that, I got another lovely ATC (from Dianne), so I thought, even though this post is quite long, I would take time to share these with you, as well as Art Journal Journey

On the left is Patty's lovely ATC, on the right is Dianne's.

Dianne is right.  There's always time for tea.

For this spread, I first painted the background in two colors of pink.  I then used my Xylene pen and tried to add words that I found on a photocopied flyer about our calendar.  Unfortunately, since I haven't used my pen in such a long time, I think it's dried up.  Next, I dug out my clock stencil and tried to make it work, but I've never been good with stencils.  For this one, I used a  pan pastel and sealed it with a spray fixative.  The words are all left over from my Time Altered Book.  Now it's time to rejoin this post which is already in progress.  Then it'll be time to visit Art Journal Journey, where their theme this month is Time.  I've already shared one entry, coming in at number 4.

Also from last week, this is the Zoo entrance.

I saw this duck on the rock and thought it was a statue

until it moved!

I was surprised how many new plants were blooming the second week, but this is what I photographed the first week.

After checking a map,

we began our voyage through the orangutan and chimp habitat.

I'll let you peruse these photos at your own pace, and I'll only chime in when I think it's necessary.

I have trouble believing these tree trunks fell in these exact spots, but I applaud the eco-friendly way the zoo showed the decomposition process which allows the nutrients to return to the soil.  It could have been a teachable moment, but no one stopped to appreciate it, except me of course.

Can you see the chimp as he

moved to a lower platform?

Both chimps and elephants draw at the zoo.  Give them a paint brush and they will create some pretty awesome abstracts.

We are now outside the Habitat and ready for our next adventure.  Of course the depot was closed, but I enjoyed taking a good transition photo.  I really MUST clean my lens, as I fear that's what brings on those white spots in my photos.

I hope you enjoyed this tiny peek at our first stop the first night at the zoo.  More photos will come soon.  But now it's your turn!  Share a photo or ten, or a scan of something drink related.  It can be anything, such as if you were out and about, or perhaps photographed your favorite tea cups, mugs, glasses, or teapots.  Maybe you made art to share (whether traditional, hybrid, or digital), or reviewed a drink related book or movie.  Whatever you choose to share, as long as it is somehow drink related in at least one photo, please feel free to link below.  Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang, will be by to visit, but Squiggles simply refuses to leave the safety of my office!

And please don't forget to visit Art Journal Journey's latest offerings, too.

I'm always in the mood for a zoo trip, and this one looks like it gives its animals a pleasant environment. I look forward to more photos :)

I'll be back tomorrow for tea. Right now I'm plugging your link into my post.

I love the zoo. Any I have ever been to have been educational and as eco friendly as possible with fabulous environments created for the animals. There is usually much arguments over whether zoos should be banned or not, but I think they are good things. Thank you for sharing your photos, I enjoyed them more when enlarged and I could view more details. I look forward to seeing more.
I don't have a tea related post this week, I'm sad to say, but I hope to join in again next week. HAPPY T Day :D

It's beautifully maintained isn't it, so long since I've been to a zoo. Although the entrance prices you quoted seem high, then when you get in there and start looking, walking learning, it seems to represent fair value if you ask me. Better when free though! I like the signage..'Beastro', yuk yuk, thought that quite funny!

I'm glad you and Sally had a good time.
I haven't been to a zoo is so long I cannot remember.
It always makes me sad to see animals pacing and caged and well I guess I'm one of the few that is not crazy about the whole zoo concept. I know there are more ways to look at the good zoos do. Don't mean to sound like a wet blanket but you are always so forthright so now you know my views for what they are worth. (almost deleted all that!)
Your zoo seems to have a lot of educational features and the art work is nice.
Your Time altered book is perfect for the August AJJ challenge!
Dianne's ATC is wonderful and so original.
I came across the envelope she mailed my India tip in from long ago.
She decorated the envelope in her wonderful artwork which made it much too good to throw away.
I will stop rambling now E.
Wishing you a Happy T Day oxo

I like your zoo photos, although I noticed there are no pictures of animals, with the exception of the fish and duck. I wondered if this was a conscious decision. Although I don't really like the concept of zoos, I am always overcome by the wonder of looking into the faces of animals and birds that I would otherwise never know.

Another trip to the zoo! Lucky you!
I loved reading about Marbles the alpha male chimp and his statue is fab. I can only assume that because he has a statue he is no longer alive...
My (late) grandmother lived within walking distance of the Rotterdam zoo and for many years had a season ticket. She went regularly as the gardens were beautifully maintained and the indoor tropical gardens too of course.
Love the ATCs that you showed.
Thank you for a great post with lots of photos,

I love a good zoo and this one looks brilliant! We visit one or two with our grandchildren although our favourite is quite a drive away - the South Lakeland Zoo near Barrow in Furness - it has a good conservation programme and they have lots of lemurs - my favourites!! When we first started going there we had vouchers with money off but we liked it so much it is worth paying, although it is free admission in the Winter months ( I think they hope you will spend money in the cafe and the shop!!) I love your ATCs and your Journal page really does look fantastic! Hugs, Chrisx

I haven't been to a zoo for so many years. They built a big one in Minneapolis that I would have loved to see again one day. Good thing they have Nature shows for people like me--LOL Happy T-Day! :)

I really enjoyed your zoo pictures, so lush and green.

We are still waiting for some blood work results on Hannah, she had a relapse episode early this morning and was taken back to the Dr. He tested her from head to toe, blood work and ultra sounds.......all was ok, unless something shows in the blood work. This afternoon she started to feel better and even go into the pool for awhile. One can only hope this is a flu bug that went crazy......

You journal pages are great and fit perfectly with the ATC you received.

Happy T-day

Hello! Happy late T Day! How wonderful those ATC are, love them! Great TIME page in your journal too, always a fun theme! YAY for the zoo pictures, looks nicer then our zoo. We did go last month, wasn't my favorite visit this time.

I just posted my Hello August post a little late but at least it's posted, right??!

We are winding down our summer and getting ready for school, YUCK! So not ready for that or for our summer to be over. Winter's are too long and cold now, would love to keep the summer and that is not like me.
Hope all is well and you have a good week!

The first thing that caught my eye was the unique lily pads that look like trays. DD went to Botanical Garden when she was in Oxford where they had these and they were huge!

Sorry to have missed the 2nd and T Day this week. I am working on 3 things at once here...I thought summers were supposed to be quieter! :)
